  1. Obviously it’s #hollywood to blame, but…

#supernatural (the TV series) - some evil monsters pull another evil monster out of a place it’s been trapped for at least 7 centuries, and it comes out speaking with a modern US English accent??

Just, nope. Nopety nope. Make an effort, writers/directors. Like Sleepy Hollow did?

I know, target audience issue, but it’s just jarring… 😂

  2. My Wales-centric old-school "anachronistic analogue" Freeview TV guide is back online!

Bear in mind that my Raspberry Pi server isn't mission-critical internet-backbone hardware, but a free-time hobby project...so it's taken me a few days to restore it...and there may be dropouts...

  5. MUMPS: the *fantastic* #programming language designed for those who believe #coding should feel like a trip back to the '60s 🤖✨. Who needs modern syntax when you can have anachronistic chaos and a name that evokes a viral disease? 🦠💻 Bravo, #Wikipedia, for turning a relic into a museum exhibit nobody asked for! 🎟️🔍

    a·nach·ro·nism (ə-năk′rə-nĭz′əm)
    n.

    1. The representation of someone as existing or something as happening in other than chronological, proper, or historical order.
    2. One that is out of its proper or chronological order, especially a person or practice that belongs to an earlier time: "A new age had plainly dawned, an age that made the institution of a segregated picnic seem an anachronism" (Henry Louis Gates, Jr.).

  8. <showing old glamour-era Hollywood photos (1920s-30s) to younger person>

Them: Wow, she has perfect skin!
Me: Well, probably not. These were all touched up.
Them: Huh. I didn't know they had Photoshop back then.

    Me: <headdesk>

  9. Anachronism alert: I’m reading a novel set in the time of Bar Kochba where they refer to footbinding in China. That did not start until the Song dynasty (10th century CE) and was not widespread until much later.

    Sloppy research bothers me. :blobcatglare:

  11. Shadiversity be all like "And well-lit alcoves in Gothic castles were where the mediæval knights placed their typewriters in, you know, for writing all those Gothic horror novels such as Acts of the Apostles."
