I am currently translating a folk tale which involves a woman who has traveled in a coach for "six hundred hours" (I am assuming that this is pure travel time, leaving out breaks) in order to reach her husband in southern Hesse.
So now I am curious: What kind of distance might this represent, given #travel speeds in the mid-17th century when this incident allegedly took place?

Then he goes on to mention Snæfríður (snow peace) Svásadóttir, the Sámi women whose father forced the Viking king Haraldr hinn hárfagri into taking for his wife. Snæfríður died after bearing four children, but her body did not decay – it remained as if she were sleeping. Sound familiar?
