Retailer #AholdDelhaize reports #cybersecurity incident to Dutch police

    By Charlotte Van Campenhout

AMSTERDAM, Oct 19 (Reuters) - "Retailer Ahold Delhaize reported a cybersecurity incident to Dutch police on Monday after it detected suspicious activity in its infrastructure, the company said, adding it took some systems offline as ‌a precaution earlier this month.

"Although only reported to the police on Monday, the incident coincided with a #cyberattack in #France that caused #refrigerators and #freezers at hundreds of stores to heat up to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) overnight, sparking fires and spoiling food.

"The Dutch National Cyber Security Centre said there was no reason to believe the incident in the #Netherlands was directly linked to any #cyberattacks in other countries.

" #Delhaize said its investigations found the suspicious activity had resulted from the 'malicious actions of others', without specifying who might be responsible.

" Taking systems offline to help protect them was a precautionary measure that affected most of our brands across Europe and the United States. The investigation to date confirms this was the right decision', President and CEO Frans Muller said.

"Earlier on Monday, Ahold Delhaize's Albert Heijn, the Netherlands' largest supermarket chain, said it would not resume online deliveries before Thursday at the earliest, extending to at least 11 days an outage caused by the cybersecurity incident.

"Online accounts for about 10% of #AlbertHeijn sales.

"While Albert Heijn's website was back online on Monday, the websites of Ahold Delhaize’s US chains remained offline, a week after the cyber incident forced the company to shut down some of its IT systems. Ahold Delhaize said it expected e-commerce services at its US brands to resume 'in the coming days'.

"The US brands, which include #StopAndShop, #GiantFood, Hannaford and #FoodLion, collectively rank among the country’s largest food retailers. Deliveries at Belgian chain Delhaize resumed over the weekend.

"Ahold Delhaize previously said that there was no evidence that any customer data had been stolen [unlike the incident in 2024!!!]

"Physical stores of several chains have remained open, but have struggled with supplies as distribution channels were also affected."

  3. #MaineAudubon - #NativePlants #TextileCollage Workshop with Judy Gates

    Nov 21 2026

"Using the watercolors created by Catherine Fubish, an American botanist who collected, classified and illustrated the native flora of Maine in the 1800 and 1900s, we’ll create collages of native wildflowers. You’ll have several species to choose from. Starting with a pencil outline, small snips of different fabrics are layered and held in place temporarily with water-soluble fabric glue.

While closeup the smaller, layered pieces can be seen, from a distance they will blend to make a cohesive picture. When satisfied with the image, the collage is layered with quilt batting and muslin, then topped with tulle (fine mesh) to hold the piecing in place. Finally, stitching adds texture and structure. In this workshop, you’ll create your own collage using a combination of your own fabric scraps and provided supplies. This is intended as a no-sew workshop, with machine stitching completed at home afterwards if desired.

    Supplies to bring
    • Small, sharp scissors
    • Cotton cloth to work on, e.g. any 2′ x 2′ or larger drop cloth or cardboard
    • Pencil and eraser or dissolvable fabric pen

  13. CW: Alan Wake

➤These fights are getting tough. Lots of enclosed areas and many enemies. An exploding barrel really helped me out.
➤I listened to a song on the radio and was hoping Maine would speak again after playing it.
➤Finally made my way to the lamp lady. If the light only strips away the darkness then how was she protected? They could just attack her, no?
➤Good cell phone reception in the lit tunnel.
    ➤More birds, so many birds.
➤"You know how to make an entrance" I am told as I blow up all the enemies with a flare in slow motion. Damn straight!
➤That frustration of endless detours right on top of your objective. Padding?
➤Tom Zane wrote himself out of existence damn. Was the page in the shoebox because Alan brought him back?
➤I understand Alan wants to do this next part alone, but it's unbelievable that he would shoot the sheriff if she pushed for going with him to help.
➤Did the clicker make the sun rise? How about checking what time it is, Alan?
➤Got advance warning from a friend that this last chapter could be a big of a slog. We'll see how it goes.
