Nat and I assembled the case and cooling plate assembly of the cloud chamber. Initially a quick dry assembly to test the fit. Everything went together but nothing got cool at all. Investigations determined the Peltier plates were just getting very hot so thermal transfer to the water block was not working. Now with a slimmer TPU frame and thermal paste applied throughout we have it cooling down the metal plate. Testing can commence! #CloudChamber #Science #OpenScience

Beach day was a bust but at least my friend enjoyed himself for a bit. Not only was today very hot but I didn’t have a bathing suit and Wren was miserable. I bought an overpriced umbrella but it refused to stay put in the sand. Hopefully I didn’t miss places while applying sunscreen. It was also very busy today.

Went to Kwon Mart, Korean groceries in New Lambton (NSW AU) yesterday and found single packets of the Buldak 3x spicy noodles that Norway just banned. Couldn't help myself, had to try!
Yes, Very Hot. I had as noodle soup, cooked up with chicken hearts and a poached egg, some coconut cream, fried shallots across the top. Hottest soup I've had for quite a while!
Tasted like packet tomato/onion soup mix with lots of chili, but still a nice lunch.

CW: Request for assistance with film camera repair
Poking around on a #repair of a very inexpensive Canon EOS 5 QD (film, equivalent to the Canon A2)
It runs very hot and drained a new battery in minutes; the flash capacitors test at a normal capacitance for the listed values, but this board (Canon part 1550 - DC/DC assembly) smells funky. Anyone know what the component 254 Yd- is? Position label on the board is PG.
The flash caps test normal, and we have spares for those anyway. The battery has shown at a normal level on other cameras which take the same type (Pentax SF7) so whatever is faulty on this board is causing the battery to discharge hard, with gradual recovery afterward.
If anyone knows anything which might help, please let me know <3
