  1. Ich lese derzeit "Wer hat Angst vor Gender" von Judith Butler. (im englischen Original)

    Das Ende von Kapitel 5 und Kapitel 6 sind für mich die ersten argumentativ wirklich starken. Es ist spannend, dass sich Butler stark bei phänomenologischen Ansätzen bedient wenn they den Widerspruch zur Zurückbesinnung zu "biologischem Geschlecht als unveränderlichem Fakt" (oft im Sinne des "gesunden Menschenverstandes") formuliert.

    Die Ansätze (Butler vs. Phänomenologie) wurden m.W.n. häufig (je nach Lesart) im Widerspruch gesehen und/oder das eine in der Notwendigkeit einer Ergänzung durch das andere. Für mich bestätigt they nun etwas die Lesart die ich bisher hatte.

    Butler liefert hier
    eine mögliche Gegenargumentationslinie gegen - vor allem - TERF Ideologie / die "gender critical" Bewegung.

    Ein paar mehr Referenzen hätte ich mir gewünscht, da they sich konzeptuell bei einigen Phänomenolog*innen bedient. Da hätte mich interessiert welche Texte besonders von Einfluss waren.

    Die ersten Kapitel des Buchs fand ich einen guten Überblick über die weltweite anti-gender und anti-trans Bewegung - für mich war da aber noch wenig neues dabei und mir fehlte etwas die argumentative Stärke für their "Gender als Schreckgespenst" Postulat - abgesehen von der scheinbar selbst-evidenten Absurdität vieler Positionen, wie beispielsweise der Vergleich von Gender-Theorie und Massenvernichtungswaffen durch den Papst.

    Ich bin allerdings auch tief im Thema und Quereinsteiger*innen werden in den Kapiteln sicher Hintergründe finden bei denen ihnen "die Ohren schlackern".

    Insofern wird ein notwendiger zeitgeschichtlicher und aktueller politischer Hintergrund geliefert der zum Verständnis aktueller Debatten notwendig ist. Auch ihre Aussagen zu anti-gender Bewegungen als faschistoiden Strömungen werden in Kontext gesetzt.

    Jetzt muss ich ein paar meiner eigenen Essay-Ideen nicht mehr schreiben weil Butler die Verknüpfungen schon gemacht hat ... aber eigentlich finde ich das super - denn their Buch ist eines der wenigen
    deutschsprachig verfügbaren Werke, die diesen Bereich beleuchten. Zudem ist es deutlich leichter zu lesen als deren frühere Texte.

    Jetzt bin ich mal gespannt was noch kommt.
