‘This is precisely what I ask of fashion and cosmetics. I find it very reductive to appear younger than my age and in any case it’s a losing battle. I asked Vogue Italia not to retouch the photos and leave me with my wrinkles. Francesca Ragazzi, who directs the magazine, accepted: the new generations are looking for more modern and intelligent definitions of beauty.’
Zhong Lin is a self taught photographer born in Malaysia and raised in a multicultural community:
“I was brought up in an open-minded environment. I was unbiased since young, absorbing all cultures and anything new like a sponge. All this plays a part in the art I create.”

Paris Is Burning (Jennie Livingston, 1990) is probably best known for its fabulous #ballroom and #vogue-ㅤing scenes but in its heart, it tells the story of #family, of people who found their new ménage where they can live and love without fear and prejudice. While you may expect a fierce #documentary about #TransRights, or maybe merely a glamorous parade, you will be confronted with the flagrant #racism that made the #BallroomScene so essential for the Black and #Latinx #LGBT+ (comm)unity who founded it. And the tragedy of its demise in the name of pop culture even more heartbreaking.
