In a much-criticized opinion in September, justice #Brett #Kavenaugh supported the Trump administration’s campaign of
💥randomly stopping Hispanics on the street in an effort to root out undocumented immigrants.

At the time he wrote,
“Immigration stops based on reasonable suspicion of illegal presence have been an important component of U.S. immigration enforcement for decades,”
👉 before allowing that
“apparent ethnicity” could be a “relevant factor” for demand of proof of citizenship.

He also suggested that any questioning is “typically brief”
and U.S. citizens and legal residents would
“promptly go free.”

That opinion gave rise to what is now called a ⚠️“Kavanaugh stop”
— coined by Drexel Kline School of Law Professor Anil Kalhan.

According to the two Slate analysts,
Kavanaugh now opining in a recent footnote,
“that race and ethnicity could not be ‘considerations’ when officers make
‘immigration stops or arrests,’”
is a stab at cleaning his already troubled legacy.

⭐️“I think he is begging us to please cease and desist calling them ‘Kavanaugh stops.’

This footnote is buried in the opinion and doesn’t really have anything to do with it.

He just says:
By the way, this conflict is about immigration stops,” Stern offered.

“Wow! Immigration stops can’t be based on race?
What a concept!”
Lithwick sarcastically added.

and is pretending that what he said earlier is consonant with what he’s saying now.

Es wird so oft das Brett 'IP-Adressenspeicherung' gebohrt, bis kein Brett mehr da ist das irgendetwas aufzuhalten im Stande ist.

Anschließend baut man noch die finanzwirtschaftliche Repression aus (so wie schon jetzt die #glsbank welche linken Strukturen die Konten kündigt), und dann hat, welche Autokratie auch immer die Regierung stellt, die Kontrolle über die Kommunikationsstränge einerseits und die Finanzen andererseits.

Eine moderne Autokratie bedarf im Grunde keiner riesigen Lager (mehr), denn Kommunikation und Finanzen zu kontrollieren bedeutet, Menschen ins existenzielle Nichts kicken zu können, wenn sie nicht ausreichend systemkonform agieren.

#Princess #Gloria #von #Thurn #und #Taxis reportedly gifted the tickets to Alito and his wife to allow them to attend the Regensburg castle festival,
an annual summer music extravaganza hosted at her 500-room castle in Bavaria.

The princess, a descendant of princes of the Holy Roman empire, is noted for ties with #Steve #Bannon, a key supporter and former aide of #Donald #Trump, and connections to figures in the Catholic hierarchy opposed to Pope Francis.

Her donation to Alito is set out in the justice’s annual financial disclosure report, which he filed late after requesting an extension.

The declaration follows a series of controversies over the ethics of supreme court justices amid revelations that some, including Alito himself and Justice #Clarence #Thomas, have accepted gifts from wealthy benefactors without disclosing on mandatory forms.

After her reinvention as a conservative Catholic activist, she drew criticism in 2001 after saying on a television talkshow that the high rate of Aids in Africa was due, not to a lack of safe sex, but because
“the Blacks like to copulate a lot”.
She later tried to amend her remarks, saying Africans had a lot of sex due to the continent’s hot climate.
