Il 7 aprile 1982 muore a Cesena Pio Turroni.
Avvicinatosi giovanissimo all' anarchismo, nel 1923, per evitare la repressione fascista, è costretto a emigrare. In Francia entra in contatto con Nestor Makhno, rivoluzionario anarchico ucraino in esilio. Nell' agosto del 1936, immediatamente dopo il golpe fascista di Franco, si reca in Spagna e combatte nella sezione italiana della Colonna Ascaso. In questo periodo cerca, insieme con altri compagni, di organizzare un attentato a Mussolini. Rientrato in Francia, a partire dal 1939 viene ripetutamente arrestato per l' intensa attività politica svolta. A fine del 1943 è in Italia, a Napoli, dove prosegue la sua propaganda in favore dell'anarchia. Finita la guerra, partecipa attivamente alla ricostruzione del movimento anarchico, continuando a svolgere il mestiere di muratore e militando nella corrente antiorganizzatrice dell' anarchismo. Nel 1950 promuove le edizioni "L'Antistato" e dal 1966 è direttore del giornale anarchico "L' Internazionale".

Studi / I papiri carbonizzati di Ercolano ridanno voce al filosofo stoico Zenone

Un’altra pagina perduta del pensiero antico torna a vivere dalle ceneri di Ercolano. Grazie alle nuovissime tecnologie di imaging avanzato, un team di studiosi dell’Università di Pisa e del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) è riuscito a leggere porzioni finora inaccessibili dei papiri carbonizzati provenienti dalla Villa dei Papiri di Ercolano, sepolta dall’eruzione del Vesuvio del 79 d.C.
Foto: ©CNRLa scoperta, pubblicata su Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), ha rivelato nuove informazioni su Zenone di Cizio, il fondatore dello Stoicismo, gettando luce su aspetti poco noti della sua vita e della sua dottrina. Debolezza fisica, isolamento volontario e rigore ascetico emergono dai testi come tratti distintivi di un uomo interamente dedito alla riflessione filosofica e alla virtù morale.

Lo Stoicismo e il suo maestro
Fondato ad Atene intorno al 300 a.C., lo Stoicismo è una delle scuole più influenti del pensiero ellenistico. Il suo fondatore, Zenone di Cizio, predicava la necessità di vivere in accordo con natura e ragione, esercitando il controllo delle passioni per raggiungere l’equilibrio interiore.
Foto: ©CNRI nuovi frammenti, decifrati grazie a tecniche non invasive, confermano la fama di Zenone come asceta e maestro di rigore, ma anche come figura discussa. In alcuni passi del papiro PHerc. 1018, che contiene la Storia della scuola stoica di Filodemo di Gadara, il filosofo viene persino descritto come “moralmente discutibile” per alcune teorie contenute nella sua opera La Repubblica, dove proponeva pratiche sociali decisamente poco convenzionali per l’epoca.

La rivoluzione della termografia attiva
Il vero salto in avanti di questa ricerca risiede nella tecnologia impiegata: la termografia attiva. Per la prima volta, infatti, i ricercatori del CNR-ISPC (Istituto di Scienze del Patrimonio Culturale) e del CNR-ISASI (Istituto di Scienze Applicate e Sistemi Intelligenti “Eduardo Caianiello”) hanno applicato questa tecnica ai papiri ercolanesi.
Foto: ©CNRIl metodo, basato sulla rilevazione di contrasti termici tra l’inchiostro carbonioso e la superficie del papiro, permette di ottenere immagini leggibili anche in rotoli fortemente danneggiati. Il risultato è un livello di dettaglio paragonabile all’imaging iperspettrale a onda corta (SWIR), ma con una maggiore capacità di rivelare informazioni sulla struttura interna del papiro e sulle zone di restauro o incollaggio.
Come ha spiegato Costanza Miliani, direttrice dell’ISPC-CNR, questa tecnica “consente di acquisire segnali invisibili a occhio nudo, restituendo testi quasi del tutto perduti e garantendo allo stesso tempo la conservazione dei materiali originali”.
Le nuove edizioni dei testi: più parole, più filosofia
Le immagini ottenute hanno permesso di arricchire in modo significativo l’edizione critica di diversi papiri.
La nuova versione della Storia della scuola stoica curata da Kilian Fleischer (Università di Tubinga) contiene il 10% di testo greco in più rispetto all’edizione del 1994, offrendo nuovi dati sulla cronologia di Zenone e dei suoi successori Crisippo e Panezio, che introdusse lo stoicismo a Roma.Non meno straordinari i risultati relativi ad altri rotoli:
- Il papiro PHerc. 1508, curato da Eleni Avdoulou, rivela il 45% di testo in più e sembra contenere non una storia della scuola pitagorica, come si credeva, ma una biografia di medici greci, tra cui Acrone di Agrigento ed Eurifonte di Cnido.
- Il papiro PHerc. 1780, riedito da Carlo Pernigotti, restituisce il 30% in più di testo greco e si è rivelato una raccolta di testamenti di filosofi epicurei, l’unico testo documentario della collezione ercolanese.
Scienza e tutela: un equilibrio possibile
La ricerca rientra nel Progetto ERC Advanced Grant GreekSchools, coordinato da Graziano Ranocchia del Dipartimento di Filologia, Letteratura e Linguistica dell’Università di Pisa.

La direttrice della Biblioteca Nazionale di Napoli, Silvia Scipioni, ha sottolineato come “le nuove tecnologie concilino tutela e ricerca, permettendo la lettura dei papiri senza alcun danno fisico”.Per la prima volta, la Biblioteca è co-beneficiaria di un progetto europeo, al fianco del CNR e dell’Università di Pisa: un passo decisivo verso la digitalizzazione e conservazione integrata dei papiri, considerati tra i documenti più fragili e preziosi dell’antichità.
Come ha concluso Ivo Rendina, direttore del CNR-ISASI, “questi metodi di diagnostica ottica restituiscono alla comunità scientifica e alla società un patrimonio di conoscenze rimasto per duemila anni nel silenzio della cenere”.

Upon a Burning Body – Blood of the Bull Review

Upon a Burning Body is back, baby. Your favorite groovy Texans are ready to lay on the hurt with as many riffs as your ears can muster. Predecessor 2022’s Fury offered a no-frills attack that more substantially simplified the attack, recalling more the groove-oriented likes of Pantera or Lamb of God, as opposed to the longstanding comparisons to deathcore’s partyharders Attila and “fight everyone” breakdowners Emmure to whom they’ve been compared in the past. It seemed like a new direction for the San Antonio quartet, even if hindered by some grunge-inspired cleans and sporadic and uneven homages to their deathcore roots. Blood of the Bull tries to reconcile a new direction and a past that still haunts them.
Blood of the Bull is indeed Upon a Burning Body firing on all cylinders – although its direction remains questionable. Ruben Alvarez’s guitar work is immediately recognizable, a bluesy edge and layered rhythms with manic solos to boot, Tito Felix’s drumming is as unhinged as you’d expect,1 while Danny Leal’s vocals have returned to peak form, honed mids to complement his vicious lows – even bassist/vocalist Thomas Alvarez’s cleans are better than last go. In Blood of the Bull, poppier choruses contrast heavier to its breakneck riffs and metalcore leanings, leaving it slightly below Fury in its effectiveness but remaining a solid installment in Upon a Burning Body’s rodeo of a discography.
In many ways, Blood of the Bull exists as the band’s most experimental outing. While it channels Fury’s propensity for groove, Thomas Alvarez forgoes on the grungy tone almost entirely for the most soulful choruses the band has ever offered, tracks which often feature newfound synth in creeping intros or interludes (“Daywalker,” “Another Ghost,” “Living in a Matrix”). While the presence of these assets could potentially dull the teeth that Upon a Burning Body’s sound naturally possesses, they refuse to let that stop them. Their cleaner tracks feel bigger and more significant than ever before, albeit imperfect: the soaring melodies can feel shoehorned alongside groove or deathcore beatdowns, although the lyricism (for once) sometimes improves this issue (“Another Ghost”) and ruins it for others (“Reckless Love”). The mariachi returns full-force, a welcome homage to the group’s roots (“Sangre del Toro,” “An Insatiable Hunger”).
If the tracks with clean singing are risks with mixed payoff, then, when Upon a Burning Body conjures syncopated grooves and commanding vocals with memorable one-liners offer the best listening on Blood of the Bull. Furious shredding, wild solos, and Leal’s signature vocal attack offer a trifecta of headbanging goodness. No one growls profanity the way Leal does, and while it was noticeably absent in Fury, the “fucking” one-liners pump adrenaline (“Killshot,” “Curse Breaker”) while other tracks manage to feel kickass and brooding simultaneously (“Hand of God”), highlighting Upon a Burning Body’s vocal return to deathcore’s intensity. It can be odd and off-putting when songs that feature the most intense groove riffs can also feature those soulful choruses (“Daywalker,” “Living in a Matrix”), but aside from the aforementioned, these don’t feel as awkward as I expected.
Upon a Burning Body amps almost everything in its attempt to reconcile the old with the new, and if nothing else, the effort is noted. There is more than enough corny lyrics, ham- beef-fisted anthems, and soaring clean choruses aboard Blood of the Bull, but in this way, it feels more like Upon a Burning Body than they’ve been in a hot minute. Thankfully, if you can look past the flaws, the band’s seventh full-length is at its worst full of crunchy grooves, mind-numbing breakdowns, and jarring tonal shifts, but if that’s its worst – with Danny Leal and Ruben Alvarez leading the attack – that’s a worst I can get behind. Also, highlights like “Another Ghost” or “Daywalker” feel like flashes of potential not yet seen in lyrics or songwriting. For now, it’s Upon a Burning Body, love ’em or hate ’em: a whole lotta bull.

@crossgolf_rebel hm... also ich hatte die Intension anders verstanden, nämlich als Vergleich zu den unterschiedlichen Verfahrensweisen z.B. Deutschland & Frankreich gegenüber Schweden. Es kommen in dem Beitrag ja auch Menschen aus unterschiedlichen Ländern und unterschiedlichen Erfahrungen zu Wort und ich glaube darum geht es: was für Erfahrungen haben wir machen müssen und wie wollen wir weiter mit dem Thema umgehen. Dass dann auch Beiträge von renomierten Menschen dabei sind, die fachlich was drauf haben, ABER kritisch mit dem umgehen, was wir erleben mussten... ja Mensch... wollen wir diese Menschen nun auf eine Ebene mit der #noAfD, #Attila Hildmann, Xavier #Naidoo oder Dem #Wendler stellen ???

"A Song for Arbonne" de Guy Gavriel Kay, publié en 1992.
C'est un très beau roman de fantasy historique inspiré de la Provence médiévale, avec troubadours, amour courtois, rivalités entre seigneurs féodaux, et tensions entre royaumes voisins.
C'est un cadre qui m'attirait a priori moins que celui de "Tigana" mais j'ai été très vite entraîné par le talent de l'auteur.
