So I saw my first Fringe show of the season. They had a deal going on for the first two days and I took advantage of that.
It was great, but I'm also already tired of the crowds in the city and how it's impossible to walk anywhere.
Also, people please: I understand you want to take pictures as you visit, but could you not block off the whole pavement? Or you know, cross the road in front of driving buses? (That one was actually scary)

As a disclaimer, I haven't seen it! I only saw a couple of Stuart's shows elsewhere many years ago, but they were truly phenomenal.

Walking around Edinburgh city centre this morning and I was mighty impressed at how quickly temporary Festival venues, street furniture and other infrastructure has been removed this year.
Won’t be too long, I guess, until those tired, gauche old Christmas decs are up on The Dome🏛️🎄

Side note: I only found out about When Billy Met Alasdair thanks to the #EdinburghFringe hashtag on Mastodon (and thanks to @MacNaBracha in particular for posting about it). I find Alasdair Gray fascinating so it was a must-watch for me, but I would almost certainly have missed it if I hadn't seen it here.
It's really great that Mastodon is now widely-used enough to be useful for finding this sort of thing!

On the topic of Edinburgh, I saw another excellent play: When Billy Met Alasdair - a one-man show inspired by a photograph of Billy Connolly at the book launch of Lanark, by Alasdair Gray, in 1981.
Alan Bissett is very good in both roles, and the play has an enjoyable nod to Lanark in its structure, and is both a touching biography and a musing on art and perseverance.
Again, only on for 3 more days. Recommended!

Very cool to see posters for my sister's (excellent) show all around Edinburgh. Obviously I'm biased, but it's been getting good reviews, including a 4 star one from The Times.

#Edinburgh2025 day 5.1 aka Vennel Steps & Leith: #Shamilton (pena no haber visto este cartel antes, hubiéramos ido… aunque me temo que el #EdinburghFringe no es para @Savior1980, hemos ido a 2 cosas y no le han gustado NADA, así que igual mejor no haber sido decepcionados con este 🫠… es un musical hip-hop estilo #Hamilton pero improvisado sobre un personaje histórico que propone la audiencia), masters of naming, el café de la mañana (mi favorito en todo el viaje)…

esta mañana hemos visto un cartel de un espectáculo del #EdinburghFringe que no tenía controlado (y me ha dado rabia porque está sold out, aunque dicen que te pases por taquilla a ver si allí pueden hacer algo, nuestra última oportunidad de verlo era esta tarde): #Shamilton, un musical hip-hop improvisado sobre un personaje sugerido por la audiencia 🤣 #Hamilton pero a @Savior1980 no le han gustado NADA los 2 que hemos visto, así que paso de tenerle de mal rollo otra vez 🤷🏻♀️ #Edinburgh2025

hoy hemos estado en Calton Hill, qué bajito jajaja… luego hemos dado un paseo por Stockbridge, y hemos vuelto a la zona del hotel a comer porque hoy teníamos entradas para otro sarao del #EdinburghFringe… sobre el papel sonaba muy bien (un murder mistery interactivo ambientado en #TraitorsUK… sip, el presentador era Claude Ear Winkleman 🤣), pero ha sido un poco meh (te dan una carpeta con las “pistas” y piensas tu teoría a tu rollo, esperaba algo más dinámico)… #Edinburgh2025
