Here’s a fun one.
Before: Oh the test coverage is so bad, but I don’t want to write tests. Oh nobody updates the documentation, that’s boring. Oh the CI is so flaky, but we won’t get time to fix it!
Now: Hey AI TDDed that ticket, fixed some flaky tests on the way and updated every single reference to the way this works in the 5 scattered places.
Also now: Oh this slop machine! It provides less value than we precious humans would! We would totes do a way better job!

Seeing a BUNCH of Qwen 3.8 obliterated models being advertised for use in exploit development. This is getting SUPER dangerous… I suspect you don't need an Astra / Mythos to find exploits. Just THOUSANDS of little agentic fleets probing constantly.
What I built Stylo.Bot to defend against really… These are my 'level 5' autonomous attackers I was worried about.The PHP2Shell exploit is the first… I suspect ANY website not under active patching will be vulnerable as these exploits increase in both complexity and impact in an exponential manner.
Won't be PHP2Shell… WILL be some popular open-source framework getting ripped open… the same frameworks currently drowning under PR hell.
Interesting times indeed! -

The elk are bugling again, but off in the distance this time.
I don't recall hearing them so often in October. I usually leave to go south sometime between November 15 and December 25th and I thought that's when they moved through the area. Is it possible that they are moving through earlier? I don't know.🤷🏼♀️

This reminds me of one of my favourite things to do with my kids. Find a stream, move stones around. Build dams, don't, it doesn't matter. Play doesn't have to have an external purpose.

What would cause NVDA to be unable to read text back in web documents, namely Thunderbird and Chrome/WhatsApp windows in particular? Does some buffer get stale or something? I don't really get it.

Say what you like about PHP - at least it has Composer.
I find it a bit crazy that other package managers don't have a vendor namespacing strategy.

What do you think a Russian satellite is doing sitting in the same orbit as a US-registered radar satellite that feeds imagery to Ukraine? I can think of one answer, and I don't like it. This will not end well.

Cancel culture in the West:
Apparently, in Norway (!) there’s a campaign running against Glenn Diesen.
If you don’t know Glenn Diesen, I believe you’re missing out and should subscribe to his YouTube channel right away—you barely find more level-headed political reporting than with him:
https://www.youtube.com/@GDiesen1
But in Norway, they mark him as “controversial” and “pro-Russian” and—cancel him:
If you watch Glenn Diesen just once, you’ll probably rub your eyes, too.
Yet then, this is the West, and by now it’s not clear anymore what exactly is positive about it.

Hardest question for me;
"What do you want?"If I separate want from need, then answers flow freely, I don't really need anything but want a lot;
I want -
to learn to fly small aircraft,
to learn several languages,
to produce the three solo music albums to what I hear in my head,
to expand the known universe of possibility for my wife & I,
to teach people how to educate themselves,
& to encourage people to take an active role in self-governance,
& to learn how to socialize again. -
#BBCLauraK has been dogmatic and fearless through questioning which feels singularly-focused on #FreedomOfMovement.
It's great that those people who are similarly-obsessed - and who likely don't realise that Pakistan and Somalia are not part of Europe - finally have a voice. Again.

@cmconseils @joachim I did ✅
I suspect pretty much everyone who joined the fediverse (and didn't get banned instantly) has already decided to vote for Lula, so I don't campaign here much. My parents back in Brazil campaign a lot on Zuck social media and in the streets (where the fash voters actually are), but people are really entrenched in their positions. I'm not sure if they managed to convince anyone, but they sure tried.

Southeast Shoreline bike project
Shoreline is launching a project to improve bike support in southeast Shoreline. There’s a project page and a questionnaire, and you don’t have to live in Shoreline to fill it out, as long as you bike in Shoreline or want to but feel you can’t.
Here’s the project page; note the link to the survey. If you take the survey, you can then sign up for the mailing list, which I did. If any of this is relevant to you, go fill it out and sign up for the mailing list!

I've pondered for a while on how to score tactics/kill chain steps using CVSS, but this morning it occurred to me that you could take that further and score:
a) average CVSS exposures by product
b) (and describe) a threat model scenario in CVSSI don't have the time for the maths forf a right now, but consider this:
* Internet facing web server running a PHP app: https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3-1#CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L: 7.3
* Internet facing mail server: https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3-1#CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L: 7.1
* Active Directory: https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3-1#CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H: 9.0
* Database server: https://www.first.org/cvss/calculator/3-1#CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H: 8.0Not sure the numbers come out quite right, but just as with tactics, a lot of the properties are there to capture the properties of likely types of attack and their relative severity based on system type more generically...

CW: UKPol - Unions
It's not the full opt-out I'd like, but this is good progress on the #Union front in the UK. Too many companies get away with shitty working practices because their staff don't know, or perhaps don't understand what and why a union is a good thing to be a part of. This should alleviate that problem to some extent. Hopefully there's more to come.

Worst case scenario::
Normie people get used to #AI summaries for what they search for
Begin to stop looking for info directly
Bit by bit, those skills wither and die
Young ppl coming up never learn to search directly and don't even know *you can*
AI companies (who own all information) control all access to direct info
The endThis is already happening. I taught kids on Fdn Dig Media degrees in 2020 who *didnt know what a link or browser was*
