Somewhere out there is a sentiment that “excel is a horrid thing”. While I would agree that the most widespread MS implementation is far from what I’d like to recommend to anyone, I strongly believe that Excel is *the* interface / user experience / value proposition every single product out there competes with.
You have to meet every use-case that Excel would provide and top it with better UX for the given domain. Otherwise why chose you?

Every Product Owner falls into one of the two categories:
1) Those that know that their customers never have used nor will use Excel to fill in gaps in the product.
2) Those that actually talk to the customers. -
Both statements can be true at the same time:
1) Excel is the tool that your customers will eventually reach for to solve some of their use-cases. And you should enable them to do it so.
2) Every time your users use Excel, you have failed to provide them with a value. -
I don’t understand people doing detective work to figure out if a website was vibe coded so that they can decide if they want to use it.
I’d love to have a way to tell if website is running on AWS and filter it out straight from the search results. But … yeah …

The goal of my everyday life when I was analog-coding was to remove more lines than add. Mostly I was successful and almost always this was net-beneficial.
Since the advent of AI tools this shifted towards finding patterns and making in-repo instructions that make those easy to follow. -
Table addon authors: I have a question about why on earth you are implementing client-side sorting? In what will-not-fail-5seconds-later world are you living?
Is it convenient at first sight? Yes. Is it useful? Eeeeeh not really.
Bonus points for tables that do NOT have ANY option for server-side sorting.
