Big news! I just released version 0.9 of my 3d-printed #MorseCode single-paddle key system.
Changes:
- New grip that acts like a case. @qrper reasonably expected the original hand grip I made to reverse to act as a protective case when the key is stowed. What a great idea! I implemented it and now I always use it. It's survived testing by new hams and old alike. ❤️
- Magnet-mount bases! These take 8, 10. 12, or 15mm magnets. I use N52 magnets for high strength. Four 12mm magnets give me a really firm grip on a jeweler's block.
- No more tapping the holes! Now featuring helical "crush ribs" to engage the threads for all threaded holes. The helixes help avoid weak points in the lever, and make the horizontal holes printable without problems, unlike straight crush ribs. Because these screws are intended to be tight, each hole has 5 crush ribs in it. This keeps the screws locked in place unless you intend to move them, even better than tapping!
- Large side contact slots: The side contacts can be removed without de-soldering if you want to move your existing electronics to a new 3d-printed body. Want a new color? Lighter or stiffer spring? No problem! Print it out, swap out the hardware in maybe two minutes, and you are back in business.
I have not taken new photographs for the manual, so they still show tapped threads and a narrow hole for the side contact wires. I should update the manual with new photos before I declare version 1.0.

At the beginning of this year, when three stations were responding to me in Morse Walker at the same time, it was all I could do to get enough characters to narrow it down to one caller, let alone pull a full call out of the pileup on the first listening. I didn't see any point in going above three simultaneous calling stations, and said so on my blog.
Now in my fork of Morse Walker, you can select not only the maximum number of responding stations, but also the minimum. I was doing 3–8 for a while, but discovered that I was disappointed when only 3 stations were calling, so I bumped it up to 5–10 stations.
It's not quite realistic, but it really is good practice, and now I'm pulling calls out of much larger simulated pileups than I was half a year ago.
I'm posting this because I'm learning morse much more slowly than most people, relative to the amount of effort I'm putting in, and it often feels like I'm not making much progress. It's valuable to me to record occasional wins to remind myself that no actually I really am improving. And I hope it's encouraging to others maybe interested in learning morse to see that even someone who isn't the fastest morse learner can make progress and have fun doing it.

This is still an experimental spike, but I finally got FM voice transmission sounding well on #flipperZero for #hamradio and #morsecode purposes.
The current release at https://github.com/yo3gnd/morse-flipper outputs voice only _on the buzzer_ or headphones/PA2.

When I first got my amateur radio license, I spent most of my time in the novice area of the 40-meter band. That's where I learned Morse code and got my Morse code up to speed so that I could go to other areas of the band.
I really need to make an effort to go and see if there are still people hanging out on the novice area of the 40-meter band and slow it down and help some people along.
I think it was somewhere around 7.100

And speaking of @ExtKits this is my 2026 haul from the #emfcamp #nightmarket . A mini computer, optical #theremin, a lightning detector, tiny #oscilloscope a #morsecode kit and of course, the #orphansauce.
One day I hope to find time to build all these! ❤️

I just had two younger people, one still in high school and one in their mid-20s, ask me if I would help them get their ham radio license.
Of course I will, and for each of them, I promised that if they get their license, I would buy them a QMX Plus kit from QRP Labs and get them active on CW and digital modes.
I'm actually kind of considering getting that ticket that lets you proctor the amateur radio exams

Flashed the 8.1 firmware to the Morserino M32 Pocket, www.morserino.info
New firmware has "Morsel" and "Morse Invaders".
Morsel is much like https://morsle.fun/, where you try to guess the word being sent, first at a frantic 48 WPM, then slower each time you don't get it.
Morse Invaders is like the old "Space Invaders" video game, but with letters dropping from the top of the screen. You have to key the character correctly to blast them away.

Would anyone be interested in beta testing an Android app that allows people who are deaf/hard of hearing to use CW (Morse code)? It transduces the sound of dits and dahs into vibration using the haptic motor, flashes from the flashlight, and/or displays on the screen. I'd appreciate usability feedback:

Do you know those odd little Chinese boxes sold as #CW trainers? I built an alternative: a #morsecode trainer for #flipperZero that teaches your ears first, rather than the usual visual teaching aids.
It generates LCWO-style exercises, grades straight-key timing, works as a VBand/Vail adapter, and at experimental end, doubles as a #QRP rig.
No extra hardware required: the joystick works as a straight key or paddles. It can do elekey A/B/ultimatic and more.
