  1. How does biblical morality influence our decisions today? Exploring timeless values in a changing world helps us understand justice, love, and integrity better. What guides you?

  2. You want to talk about #MarkCarney & his #Values, it can't be made any clearer than this. Ramping up #BigOil and crippling our ability to detect & defend against #Wildfire and other climate disasters in this day & age tells you everything you need to know about the man. #cdnpoli #ClimateChange

  3. Democrats vow to undo the illegal, costly, and hopelessly lost Iran War, the total lack of Congressional oversight over a corrupt president, the steep reduction of health care benefits, the attacks on voting rights, the terrorizing of Latinos, and plans for unnecessary future wars (including Cuba and Greenland).

  4. Trump often insults female reporters who ask him tough questions.

Frank Conniff wrote: "For me, the worst part is when Trump says 'You’re fake news,' then he points to another reporter saying 'go ahead,' and she jumps right in, ignoring his disrespecting her profession. It’s every hack for themselves in this cesspool." White House correspondents continue to make this mistake which makes them look like hacks.

North Korean missiles kill civilians in #Ukraine. North Korean soldiers participate in the invasion of Ukraine. As #PutinsPuppet, Trump sees nothing threatening or disrespectful about North Korea helping Putin kill more Ukrainians in Europe. Trump is comfortable with North Koreans killing Europeans. A loyal America president would try to get #NorthKorea to stop this slaughter. Bowing down to North Korean murderers is not how to win a #NobelPeacePrize.

  6. Someone wrote: “Oh, so because I support Trump/MAGA, that automatically makes me a bigot?”

Frank Conniff replied: "With absolute certainty, YES. Without a doubt, YES.
A million times, YES. As sure as the turning of the Earth, YES.
Truer than anything that’s ever been true, YES."

  7. Rep. Seth Moulten: "Five years ago, Kabul Afghanistan fell into chaos. Innocent families were actively being hunted by the Taliban as they rushed to the airport and freedom. I knew I had to help if I could. I’ve always believed that if you have the ability to serve others, showing up isn't optional. It's a moral obligation."

  8. Aaron Rupar: "Newly confirmed Attorney General Todd Blanche spoke at a Trump rally to endorse Bruce Blakeman."

In the past, the people who were Attorney General did not speak at campaign rallies. We can expect, and should condemn, unethical behavior like this from Attorney General Todd Blanche.

  10. Frank Conniff: "Of the two major parties, normal, gracious candidates who look to the greater good and who put the needs of voters ahead of their own egos are only found on the Democratic side. There’s not a single instance of this among Republicans."

  11. Organisational Dysfunction of the Day

    The values on the wall

Context: The organisation has values. They were developed in a workshop eighteen months ago, facilitated by a consultant. People wrote on post-its, and the output was synthesised into five words: Courage, Trust, Impact, Collaboration, Excellence. They are on the website, in the onboarding deck, framed in reception. Leadership references them in all-hands. A few people have them in their Slack profiles and email signatures. Most people cannot name all five without looking. None of this is unusual. It is, in fact, the standard outcome.

OST explains: Fred Emery identified shared values as the only viable coordination mechanism for organisations in turbulent environments, conditions where the complexity of change exceeds what any hierarchy can process. In Towards a Social Ecology (1972), he and Trist made the argument precise: in Type IV, individual organisations can no longer adapt through direct action alone, and what holds a field together is the emergence of values with overriding significance across the whole system. Emery went further in Futures We're In (1977), distinguishing between values, which are context-bound preferences, and ideals, which are ends that can always be approached but never fully reached. These are not words a leadership team selects; they are already present in everyone, and what lets people adapt together is recognising ideals they already hold in common, not agreeing to five words someone else chose for them. Values guide behaviour; ideals are what people strive toward. The values on the wall were specified: a consultant ran the workshop, leadership signed off on the wording, and the result was handed down the same way a policy is handed down. Values that arrive that way carry the DP1 filter with them, weighted by the sender's position rather than by what they mean to the people expected to live by them. You cannot laminate your way to shared direction. The organisation gets five words. It does not get an ideal anyone is actually seeking.

  12. Geoff Bennett: "The IRS audits every president. It can audit you. It no longer audits Trump -- because he used his control of the government to exempt himself. This is immunity that no other American has."

  14. No sé cómo han podido pasar 12 años de este documental sobre Aaron Swartz y no haberlo visto. Con lo que se cuenta podría dar un curso completo de la importancia de los valores en el software y, en general, en toda la tecnología.

  16. Laws are often designed to enforce a certain way of life. For example, people can physically live in boats, RVs/caravans, tents, under trees, etc. But, in the US, one usually can't get a government ID, a bank account, a job, insurance, etc without a residential address.

  18. Poliittisen psykologian journaalista osui silmiin kiintoisan oloinen tutkimusartikkeli indentiteetin uhkien, henkilökohtaisten arvojen ja poliittisten asenteiden yhteyksistä EU-tasolla, onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10

  21. "We introduce a multi-objective, multi-value #IAM framework to guide just climate policymaking under deep uncertainty" We address three shortcomings of previous models:
    1. #comparison: "By making decision-makers’ preferences over objectives explicit, multi-objective approaches facilitate a posteriori navigation of conflicting interests."
    2. #values: "A just and effective alternative is to adopt policy design frameworks that accommodate multiple values and preferences of different stakeholders, fostering mutual understanding and consensus."
    3. #uncertainties: "Climate sensitivity and damage functions are major sources of deep uncertainty". A "feedback mechanism makes adaptive policies robust against deep uncertainties and allows them to accommodate diverse future states-of-the-world (SOW) and extreme events."
