  1. We’re good at the noise. The planning, the preparing, the being “on.” We’re good at busyness and momentum.

But the quiet after? That’s when the real feelings show up.

That’s when you process what actually happened - not what you were trying to make happen, but what actually happened.

And most of us run from it.

We scroll. Plan the next thing. Turn on the TV. Create new noise.

Because the quiet feels dangerous. Lonely. Too much.

    But here’s what I’ve learned:
The quiet after is where the truth lives.

It’s where you feel what you actually felt - not what you were supposed to feel, but what you actually felt.

The noise protects you from knowing. The quiet reveals.

Sometimes it reveals disappointment, grief, exhaustion. Sometimes gratitude you didn’t have time to feel. Pride in what you did. Clarity about what matters.

The quiet doesn’t just reveal hard things. It reveals true things.

  6. 8. Next step: Bought an old-school alarm clock. My phone can charge in the living room at night. What happens instead? 😂

My inner Monty Python sketch: “Leave the phone in the living room? Sure, I’ll do it. … Soon. Or tomorrow. … Or… well? …never?”
Making deals with myself is like political negotiations—lots of talk, little action.
At least humor helps, even when the phone is still right next to me.

  7. 8. Nächster Schritt: Wecker gekauft – das Handy kann nachts im Wohnzimmer laden. Was passiert stattdessen? 😂

Mein innerer Loriot-Dialog: „Handy ins Wohnzimmer legen? Klar, mache ich. ... Gleich. Oder morgen. ... Oder… naja? ...nie?“
Absprachen mit mir selbst sind wie politische Koalitionsverhandlungen – viel Gerede, wenig Ergebnis.
Immerhin: Humor hilft, auch wenn das Handy noch neben mir liegt.

I was just trying to remember a song.

  9. By being alone, I get to see more of the world — at my own pace, where I want to. The world is beautiful. I walk alone because I love to. It’s okay. Really.

  10. What to write in a bio about myself? I’m this, I’m that, BLA BLA BLA — this is how I used to write about myself. I have many hobbies that change all the time. I’m curious. I get obsessed with things. I’m this, I’m that.

But maybe I’m none of these things. Maybe I’m just me — Brett, a human who loves to experience and try on different things. Maybe I’m not any of these things. Maybe I’m just an idea.

  12. I’m going to be honest: when you spend a long time in any country, the frustrations can build up, and you can find yourself hating everyone. That isn’t racism — it’s the same as when a local has a bad few days and ends up hating people in general.

It’s just a cloud, and it does pass. I never actually hated the people; I was sick, exhausted, and having a bad time.

  13. CW: Mouthwashing, small vent about socio-normatives and the regret of fitting into my demographic square hole

    youtu.be/HuD-ypEKP4o

So PushingUpRoses just published an amazing analysis video on #Mouthwashing and I have to say, I cannot believe I missed the entire central plot of this game. I can probably chalk it up to not being fully invested/immersed in the story when I'm also trying to portray characters, play the game, and generally be entertaining as a streamer. However, I also know that as someone whose demographic places them squarely in the camp of, as she puts it, "The Boys Club", I can't help but feel regretful or even a bit ashamed that (however expectedly) I too missed this glaringly obvious aspect of the whole game.

This is in no way a knock at her perspective or analysis; in a way, she's right. Whether it was subconscious or not, I did literally miss the plot about Anya and Jimmy, hell the entire part of Jimmy's character being a piece of shit and not taking accountability for his own actions and mishandling of the entire journey the rest of them found themselves on. I wish I had noticed this aspect of the game, and I hope that, when we get around to publishing the VODs for my playthrough, it doesn't impress the wrong idea about the person holding the camera.

I'll speak more about this when the videos actually publish, but I want to make this absolutely clear before we even approach them. Had I been able to put the pieces of this blatantly obvious puzzle together I would have without any uncertainty brought it up as an issue against Jimmy. It's my biggest regret with my playthrough, now knowing how glaringly obvious it was and what my voice and perspective during the playthrough gives off as a content creator.

I take the way I present myself to others completely seriously and hope that I can break down perceived expectations of what kind of person I am to others.

Anyways, sorry, just had to get this off my chest, a bit heavy for #Halloween I know.
