  1. CW: #PennedPossibilities 1062 | #SubconsciousMind spoilers

Gareth ( #SubconsciousMind): When I found out what my family had done, what I had done, and I broke up with my boyfriend (who've I just found again), so nothing held be back there and starting again somewhere else seemed a good idea and the right timing.

  2. #WordWeavers JUL-04 SC POV: Who’s the hottest character in your book and why?

Chase ( #SubconsciousMind): Gareth. But don't tell anyone. He isn't physically attractive but I crushed so hard on his personality.
Kai ( #AsIf): Jannis. He thinks, I haven't noticed him but that's not true. But how could I ever tell him? I mean, yeah, he's shy and not acting very cool, so, I guess, he doesn't know how good he looks—at least in my eyes.

  3. @golgaloth For You is about two men stumbling into an affair but something is off, yet, they struggle to come to terms with that on their own

#SubconsciousMind is about a teenager who, due to retrograde amnesia, forgets about being gay, which his parents use to manipulate him into continuing to think, he's straight, what they prefer. All this starts to crack when he unknowingly falls in love with his boyfriend and meets his trans classmate Stella again.

  4. #WritersCoffeeClub JUN-26. Have you ever included subtle (or unsubtle!) homage? Tell us about it.

#SubconsciousMind is largely inspired by and references #GeographyClub

#Unmodeled, though taking place in the future, references a lot of what is going on around #LLMs these days and building upon that, showing readers a dystopian future

The concept of #SoulBearer may or may not be loosely inspired by the Goa'uld symbionts of #Stargate

  5. CW: #PennedPossibilities 1053 | #SubconsciousMind spoilers

#PennedPossibilities 1053 How far would your characters go to get what they want?

Gareth's parents would do anything to form their son the way they think, a perfect son would be, including, exploiting his amnesia to plant false memories about his own identity

  6. #WritersCoffeeClub JUN-06 How do you write about places you’ve never been?

Yes and no. For High Fantasy ( #SoulBearerLegacy) and Science Fiction ( #Unmodeled), sure.

For contemporary literature, I either write about places, I know (Hamburg, Germany ( #ExGayHusband) and Anchorage, Alaska ( #SubconsciousMind))

  7. #PhantastikPrompts 12.

  9. #PennedPossibilities⁩ 1018 — MC POV: Tell us about the first time you felt shame.

Gareth: "When as a gay person don't you feel shame? Okay, there might be some, but they sure ain't me. The probably had more liberal parents. So yeah, when I first discovered that I might be gay. Every time, when I did something that could be considered 'gay'. Every time when I thought something that could be considered 'gay'."

  10. In a looser sense, you could also include #SubconsciousMind as it was inspired by as well as driven by my experiences in #Anchorage, #Alaska—however, again, not plot-wise but by the places my MC goes, but the overall setting, by the people it meets (not actual people but their vibe), the atmosphere, etc.

  11. #WritersCoffeeClub MAY-03 Do you write your works localized to the setting or your background?

I used to write in German, but it has a smaller potential audience (not just in terms of individuals but also in terms of platforms where I posted) than English, so I switched to English when I switched to another platform.

I usually don't name the places where my stories take place with the exception of #Anchorage, #Alaska in #SubconsciousMind because I spent some time there.

  12. If any of my stories could be turned into a game, I would probably use #SubconsciousMind, a thriller, where the player can uncover what's wrong after they regain consciousness and what everyone is hiding from them

    #amWriting #ZuriStories

  13. #SubconsciousMind starts with a three-chapter long introspection of the protagonist without any dialogues and very abstract perceptions while in coma, but usually, my stories are the usual dialog vs action running text 🤷🏻‍♂️

#Unmodeled is unusual as it contains both footnotes and end notes but they were added later, not during writing.

  15. #WritersCoffeeClub APR-01 in-jokes, hidden messages, easter egg

#AsIf: In the hospital there's a brief blink-and-you-miss-it crossover with #ArkanCotton from one of my other stories
#SubconsciousMind: The story is based on the novel "Geography Club", which, coincidentally gets chosen to be that year's school play in the story
#FindingMe: The story is full of geeky recurring humor that is understood without explanation between the lead chacters

  16. CW: #WordWeavers MAR-31 | #SubconsciousMind | homophobia

#WordWeavers MAR-31 SC POV: What's your idea of a romantic evening?

Chase: With a gi— oh, you mean with another boy? Uhm ... normal? Manly? I dunno, man. Just don't want anyone to think, I'm a fag or something*. It's hard to be like that already–that's not my fault, by the way. I just can't help it—and ... and loving Gareth

    * plot twist: that's why Gareth doesn't what to be with him

  17. Oh, well, Gareth's parents must be cold-blooded, the way, they deceive their son.

    #SubconsciousMind

  18. #PhantastikPrompts JAN-01 Wo und zu welcher Zeit spielt deine Geschichte?

#SubconsciousMind spielt in #Anchorage, #Alaska. Zeitangaben gibt es keine genauen, aber die Beschreibung Anchorages basiert auf meinem Besuch dort im Jahr 2019.

  19. CW: #WordWeavers family reunion | #SubconsciousMind

#WordWeavers Would your MC look forward to a family reunion?

Before or after Gareth found out what his parents did?

  20. CW: #PennedPossibilities 165 | #SubconsciousMind spoilers

#PennedPossibilities 165 If your MC has a love interest, what would be their opinion when it comes to cuddling up in front of the fireplace on a snowy night with that special someone?

Gareth would love to do that, but Chase would never do this at a campfire out in the open, afraid to be seen, concerned about his career more than anything else. As an indoor event, this would probably work for the two

  21. #PhantastikPrompts AUG-8
