I didn't try as hard this year and I believe even if I would have put all my energy into #Eyeballs (my #GameJam) entry), I wouldn't have won against Extra Ordinance.
I think the dark theme of Eyeballs just isn't everyone's cup of tea but this is OK. Overall I'm still satisfied with how Eyeballs turned out. I think it can be improved with more levels and a better HUD to show how well you're seen.
In playtesting, I noticed that the difficulty spike from level 2 to 3 is quite high.

The term "#aromantic spectrum" (#arospec) refers to a broad set of experiences and identities in which people relate to romance and love much less than it is considered "normal".
Some people may not feel any romantic attraction at all (that's me! 👋), some only very rarely, some only feel it only under certain conditions, etc.
Arospec people are very diverse and may or may not have additional identity labels (e.g. for sexual orientation or gender).

Good #Repixture news! The #mobs rework is going well. Now I've finally reimplemented all the mobs of the previous version with most of their basic functionality working again. The only major missing feature now is aggressive behavior, the rest is bugfixing.
I'm now approaching the "code cleanup" phase and hopefully I'll be able to finally make a release.

Probably #aphobia's most disturbing consequence is "corrective #rape". 😬
Corrective rape is when a person is raped with the goal to turn them straight. And no, it doesn't "work". 🙄
This has actually happened to #asexual people multiple times. But why?
The reason is allonormativity, i.e. the (false) dogma that everyone deep down craves sex and likes it. Corrective rape is the sad and "logical" conclusion of this dogma. 😫

#Aphobia may come even from the #LGBTQ+ community: There's this idea that #asexual and #aromantic people do not belong to the LGBTQ+. A common excuse is we're not "oppressed enough". 🤡
Here's the thing: ALL #aces and #aros violate #heteronormativity. No matter how you twist and turn it, it's impossible to be ace/aro AND fully comply with heteronormativity.
Excluding people who violate heteronormtivity is patently absurd.
I'm aro-ace, and therefore LGBTQIA+.

I had internalized #aphobia.
For years I've bought into society's notions of #sex being "important" in life.
There's the "sad #virgin" trope from TV that screwed me up. The idea is, if you're adult, and never had sex, you FAILED. 🙁
I never had sex, and I thought I was failing. But then I realized, I never truly needed sex to begin with. 🤯
#Aphobia prevented me from finding my true self. 😡
I am forever grateful for the #asexual community for their support. 😃

It's fine to not be that into #sex or #romance. It's fine to not feel sexually or romantic attracted to anyone. It's fine if you do have sex, but only rarely.
Sex and romance are deeply personal things, so don't let society put you down.
But aphobia says the opposite. Aphobia says that it is NOT okay, thus forcing everyone into sex and romance, even if it doesn't work.

The "A" is often missing, but not here! Because aphobia sucks, too!
I think it is the moral duty of everyone, not just members of the #LGBTQIA+, to shut down #bitotry wherever it occurs. Don't be afraid to speak out when you can do safely.
The more people do this, the harder it is to be bigoted in public.

I think the #RainbowMap is the perfect answer to the question why #LGBTQIA+ activism is still neccessary in 2024 "even in Western countries". The numbers clearly show that it's still a far cry from true #equality.
"The West" might be overall better in #queer rights, but that doesn't mean it can pat itself on the back. There are no bonus points for being *less* discriminatory.

🇲🇹 #Malta is on rank 1 with 88%, but lost a few points compared to 2023.
🇷🇺 #Russia is last with 2%, worse than even 2023. It's very hostile to queers. -
As long society accepts genital "surgeries" on #intersex babies so they conform to some bullshit norms, we cannot call ourselves enlightened.

@ErictheCerise While agree that accidental pronoun misuse does happen with no evil intention, there *absolutely* are people who misuse pronouns deliberately because they ideologically reject the #gender identity of #trans people. You know, transphobes.
People like Ben Shapiro do it all the time and it's obvious they do it on purpose.

#PSA: Another hint about finding a #Mastodon server: I recommend to check if the server follows the Mastodon Server Convenant <https://joinmastodon.org/covenant> which is a promise to follow some basic responsibilities when it comes to the server health itself: Daily backups, one person has emergency access to server, 3 months notice before a shutdown. So even if things fail, the worst disasters should be averted by this.
I think the #Convenant is a good thing. -
With #Luanti (formerly #Minetest) version 5.10 out, games can finally use the #gettext PO format natively.
I've recently updated #Repixture to use this format, which makes the translation process much simpler. Previously, I had to use a hacky Python script to convert between formats before I could upload the texts to Weblate. Now it can be used natively.

Many people have been talking about deleting their #Reddit account and posts because they hate what the Reddit CEO does.
While I welcome a major #RedditExodus (I never posted on Reddit because it's #proprietary), I urge people to #backup their high-quality posts (those that have helped a large number of people) before they delete their account for good.
And then repost your high-quality stuff somewhere else for archival purposes.
