  1. 'What distinguishes Wittig's theoretical, political and literary project, and makes it an unavoidable pole of intellectual attraction today, is its radical anti-essentialism. It's the radical anti-essentialism that Wittig applies to the most credible of beliefs, because of the strength of its naturalization: the idea that men and women are naturally complementary "natural groups".'

  2. Heterosexuality is a regime of political oppression 🧶

"Just as racism produces race and not the other way round, sexism produces sex through the relationship of domination that reduces the dominated to things or natural objects."

  3. #BooksAgainstNormativity

    Hey,
I'd like to start a collection of books, that are great eye-openers against normative concepts.

I have read 2 books so far, that I think fit:

#Ace by #AngelaChen: Maybe the standard work on asexuality and a great book to understand and question allo-normativity (allo(sexual) being the opposite of ace/asexual)

#Platonic by #MarisaGFranco: An homage to platonic partnerships and against romantic normativity or also allo normativity (allo(romantic) being the opposite of aromantic here)

I'm next looking for a book on #RelationshipAnarchy to add to the list. Is there like a go-to book or must read? Please let me know.

Also do you know of any other books, that fit into the collection? It can be about/against any kind of normativity, not just related to gender, relationships and identity.

  4. "Even as queer and trans Iranian asylum seekers and Afghan refugees who left Iran for Turkey do not fall under the same category according to the UNHCR’s criteria, they have something in common: they are economic refugees. Yet the UNHCR does not recognize economic marginalization as grounds for granting asylum. If it did, a large number of people in the world (including in the United States) who are affected by global capitalism’s economic violence (such as lack of access to universal health care in the United States) would be eligible for asylum."
