Just a friendly reminder that infinite scroll is an anti-pattern, and that building ethical social media is about more than ownership, algorithms, and licensing: Respecting users' time and not replicating patterns deliberately designed to create addiction is equally important. https://indieweb.org/infinite_scroll

Just found this article stating that using the #language #attribute for individual words within a text is not a good idea when you want #ScreenReader users to have a good #UX. It's just overengineered #a11y.
I'm a bit surprised as you always read otherwise (as the article also mentions).
Are some screen reader users here that can share their experiences? I'm really curious now 🤔

Just in case people worry about the latest critical #CVE in #Firefox, which as listed in MFSA 2024-51 is CVE-2024-9680 (Use-after-free in Animation timeline):
This vulnerability does not apply to #PaleMoon or the #UnifiedXULPlatform / #UXP.

I just wanted to share with you all this screenshot I found of #firefox for a bit of #nostalgia
Remember the round, blue, aero buttons? It's the #UX equivalent of looking at clothes you used to wear and thinking "Gawd that looked awful".. but still.
The coloring, the pink background with the typical overview photo of a girl who's wearing angel wings... it's like distilled #2000s vibe
#ElderMillenial vibes.

@tsalvo Just saw your work in progress on the stack #CPU implementation in #PipelineC 👋 . Great work, how neat! Hope it has gone well and as always happy to help! 🤓 #uxn #varvara #AnaloguePocket #FPGA #stackmachine #FPGA #HDL https://github.com/tsalvo/varvara-fpga

You don’t need to be perfect in every method to work in the design industry. Just start and you’ll grow with your tasks.

@fuchsiii @noxypaws @devopscats @josh Just because #MicrosoftTeams gradually forces changes and doesn't shove #UI & #UX #Enshittification from one day to the other down Users' throats like #Slack or #Discord doesn't make it less shitty...
All #centralized, #SingleVendor & #SingleProvder, #SaaS-only - solutions are bad.

I want to talk about the terrible experience I just had checking in online for my son's upcoming appointment at #BostonChildrensHospital, because it's chock full of bad #UXDesign decisions, poor #UX, and shitty #tech.
The link in the email inviting me to check in doesn't take me to a check-in screen; rather, it takes me to their portal home page. I have to create a portal account before I can check in.
It's user-hostile and dumb to require a portal account for on-line check-in. 1/x -

Just found out a new Octatrack here in Norway costs around 4000 NOK more (roughly 370 usd) than when I bought mine 3-4 years ago (current price 18 000 NOK) And while the Octa has received a paint job and some UX improvements it is internally the same device as when launched 10+ years ago. Don’t get me wrong, the Octatrack is an awesome machine and I understand how both inflation and shortages on parts are causing this price, but it cannot be considered a realistic pick for young, underground musicians (maybe it never was). For 18k NOK you can get a very nice laptop, a multipurpose device that does way more than a single groovebox/sampler ever can do. And don’t get me started on Teenage Engineering and their boutique devices. I don’t buy gear anymore, luckily I got what I need, but more importantly it’s just too expensive. Music producers/musicians: How is inflation affecting your purchasing decisions? #musicproduction #sampler #elektron #octatrack #synthesizers

Just opened a mega issue/suggestion on how the basic #Mastodon layout could make more sense:
Re-think the overall layout design to more natural direction https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/27102
Here's one of my quick mockups for the current UI. Read the detailed arguments in the issue. #MastoAdmin #MastodonDesign #UI #UX

At #UXT27 (four days of training in Berlin together with Hias) I started to wonder whether it might be better to stop using the term "bullshit" for personas that are just made up and have not been validated in the slightest. Should we politely call them "Risky Personas"? Because there is a possibility to make a lucky strike based on intuition and tacit knowledge (Unknown knowns)... #Personas #UXDesign #UXThinking #CooperandCooper @colaab @mralancooper @Miniver
