I think my home has become #hummingbird central. I have five 8-oz hummingbird feeders and I keep them full all the time in the summer. I'm currently going through 2 quarts of sugar water a week. Birds are buzzing around from first light until last night.
Sadly, I'm also #yellowjacket and #hornet central. I just set up another three wasp traps and all three of them were catching #wasps within 20 minutes. I also just sprayed a few hornet nests. So I'll stay inside for a while.😬

OK, for those of you interested in a homemade #yellowjacket #trap that seems to work outrageously well, it's pretty easy. Mix some apple cider vinegar, water, and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Add a few drops of dish soap. Cut two holes about the size of a finger joint about halfway up a plastic soda or water bottle. Put a spoonful of wet cat food or dog food into the bottle. Add the liquid mix. Put the cap on. Put the bottle where there are yellow jackets. (1/3)

I have no idea how she got on my windshield wiper, what she’s doing there now, or why she didn’t leave sometime during my five mile drive across town with a stop to get gas along the way. Seem to have trained yellowjackets that spotted lantern flies are food!
neighbor K & I have been smashing lantern flies on the tree of heaven at next door gas station whenever we're on break. which has attracted yellow jackets to scavenge the corpses. It took them a few days to recognize them as edible, but now there's loads of them scavenging in area.
This morning saw one going after a live one! Did a bunch of exploratory bites but gave up in favor of joining other yellowjackets in pulling apart dead ones.
No issues with the yellowjackets bothering me or K while we're hunting lantern flies. They're just waiting for us to drop 'em and then swoop in. So just like other scavengers, just on a vastly different size scale than say ravens and wolves. We're kaiju sized to the yellowjackets.
