Big Beautiful Bald Faced Hornet harvesting wood pulp for her nest. Not a true hornet, she's the largest of our native yellow jackets at close to an inch long.
Lots of posts and railings made of washed up wood collected from the harbour provide resources for various Hymenoptera species in the garden.
Being calm and patient allowed me to capture these photos from about 2 inches away from her with a phone.Ontario 🇨🇦

Well today was another school day for me. My daughter asked me to check out this 'ant' carrying a spider. It appears that this is a #dipogon #wasp carrying a #crabspider Until today I had never really considered spider wasps in the UK, only being aware of the classic tarantula hawk wasp that appears on nature documentaries (and has a special mention on the Schmidt sting pain index). This is of a different scale at around 10mm but what a joy to see in the back garden!

Что-то вроде Terraform, но для стека веб-приложения, а не облачной инфраструктуры. Теперь же, спустя пять лет стараний, мы поняли, что это было ошибкой. Создавать новый язык есть смысл под конкретные задачи и предметную область. В нашем же случае он людям не зашёл и создал больше проблем, чем принёс пользы. В этой статье я расскажу, почему нам эта идея казалась перспективной, какие уроки мы вынесли и почему заменяем свой язык на TypeScript при том, что сам Wasp внутренне остаётся всё тем же.

CW: super cool itsy bitsy metallic wasp
This was my excitement for the day :) Seems to be a Mesopolobus wasp parasites of various caterpillars usually some used as biological control.
Mix of sun + cloud this afternoon with rain + small hail! Then the sun came + went again (+again). I've started looking at foliage as much as flowers for places to find critters, + this tiny one was on the leaves / stems of poplar suckers.
