Hypnotic (2021) 🇫🇷
Il y en a déjà eu plusieurs ! Il y a eu le Hypnotic de 2002. Après, il y a aussi eu des titres de films comme Palimpsest – A Hypnotic Mystery, mais si je commence à aller par là, je ne terminerai jamais cette critique !
Il me semble qu’aucun de ces films n’ait eu beaucoup de succès. Du moins, pas le succès mérité. Pas même celui-ci ! C’est assez rude, parce qu’il est loin d’être si mauvais que ça.
Un truc déplaisant, c’est clairement le fait que l’hypnose a déjà de la peine à avancer suffisamment rapidement pour faire sa place dans notre société, mais un film comme celui-ci vient surfer sur les ambiguïtés pour foutre encore plus la frousse aux sceptiques ou autres cartésiens. C’est sûr que le film est exagéré, mais les naïfs vont probablement y croire.
Kate Siegel est une excellente actrice et rien que pour elle – et le fait que le film repose sur des épaules et qu’elle arrive parfaitement à le porter – ce film en vaut la peine. C’est d’ailleurs l’une des copies conformes d’Angelina Jolie !
Mais malgré les nombreuses critiques sur “The Open House”, leur premier film pour Netflix, Matt Angel et Suzanne Coote étaient de retour sur la plateforme avec un nouveau film. Seulement, ils n’ont plus mis en scène leur propre scénario comme la première fois. Le scénario est cette fois-ci signé Richard D’Ovidio à qui l’on doit celui du moyen “The Forger” ou du très efficace “The Call”.
“Hypnotic” est un film sur la manipulation mentale par hypnose avec une femme fragile qui va tomber entre les griffes de son dangereux hypnothérapeute. Une idée de départ sympathique qui se suffit à elle-même bien qu’elle ne soit pas exploitée au maximum notamment en ce qui concerne l’autorité du docteur et ce qu’il est capable de faire faire à ses patients. Digne d’un téléfilm avec certains rebondissements invraisemblables et une intrigue prévisible dès les premières minutes seulement, c’est tout de même un film bien sympathique et assez plaisant à regarder. En tout cas pour moi !
Bon scénario, aucun temps mort : un film qui donne envie d’aller jusqu’au bout ! Peut-être prévisible sur la fin, mais il y a beaucoup de retournements de situation, un thème très intéressant qui y est abordé est le contrôle mental (mind control).
Avec pas mal d’adrénaline, j’ai aimé le concept du film, aucune nudité, aucune scène de sexualité, ni de violence extrême insupportable ! Ce qui est appréciable et rare de nos jours. Et j’ai passé un bon moment. Pas besoin de plus ! Il n’est pas excellent, mais je reste très surpris de voir les avis plus que négatifs pour un film original, très bien joué et qui nous tient en haleine du début à la fin ! J’ai vu des films qui se sont choppé de très bonnes notes, qui sont considérés comme 4 étoiles qui étaient bien pires que ça !
