@asael Thanks for the kind words.
Although the process is somewhat convoluted, I've figured out how to fill in the target strings containing plural forms using #transifex:
- Use ctrl+up and ctrl+down to navigate to previous / next string.
- When you navigate to a string with plural forms, the other quantity is selected first.
- You can type your translation or you can press ctrl+g to fill the source string for editing in place or you can press ctrl+h to fill in machine translation.
- When you wish to select different plural quantity for translating use the screen reader features to move the focus outside the text area, for example to the source string or to the list of quantities above the text area, then press the up arrow key and then press the tab key to focus the text area again.
- The fact which quantity is selected is not communicated to screen readers so you need to make extra care. Pay attention to the list of quantities defined for the target language. When translating from english to slovak source language (english) has two quantities configured, one and others, the target language (slovak) has four quantities configured, one, few, many and others. When navigating this way I am moving in a reverse direction from others, through many and few down to one.
I Hope this might also help someone else.

I am trying to contribute slovak translation to some projects using #transifex for coordinating translator work.
Transifex has an editor where the screen reader accessibility could be improved, however most of the functionality can be used by combining the keyboard shortcuts with advanced screen reader features.
For navigating to previous / next string there are keyboard shortcuts alt+down / alt+up.
To copy the source string there is shortcut alt+g / ctrl+g.What I am unable to figure out is how to fill all the variants when translating strings that have plural forms such as one / few / many / others.
Do you know someone who is also using transifex and can possibly try to assist with this?
Thank you

It is snowing again. So time to solve some issues at #transifex for #nextcloud .
We are down to zero again. Opened some PRs at GitHub and Issues as well. -
We just pulled the #translations from transifex into the #Hyphanet daemon again: 5548 new or improved translations.
The biggest change is Albanian that got added and is already 51% translated.
It’s currently up for review: https://github.com/hyphanet/fred/pull/1095
A big thank you to the relentless translators at #Transifex!
UPDATE: it’s merged now.

Did you know the creator of #AnduinOS chose #AI-powered translation over collaborative platforms like #Weblate or #Transifex? 🤖
Check out the project: https://gitlab.aiursoft.cn/aiursoft/dotlang
What’s your take: do you prefer fast, scalable AI translations, or the nuance and community of collaborative localization? Share your thoughts!

#Transifex blocks new registrations with e.g. gmail e-mail addresses. The explanations for this are not convincing. More about this at
What do you think about this?

@solydxk Informa-se que se procedeu á atualização da tradução via #transifex para #português com revisão.
Just finnish at transifex to review and translate #SolydXK to #portuguese European version

Good luck @weblate ... While @nextcloud talks about FOSS and decentralization, people have been asking them for years about using #Peertube and #Weblate, but it's always crickets and continued exclusive use of #YouTube and #Transifex.
There's virtually never even a response why they exclusively use the closed, #centralized, #proprietary services.
I respect @Karlitschek and @jospoortvliet but the org seems only interested in #FOSS / #Privacy / #decentralization in their own code / marketing.

As part of my effort to bring Farsi translation to docs.python.org, I recorded a video for collaborators showing them how to contribute and work with Transifex and started promoting it in the Farsi community. My tweet thankfully reached around 22 thousand views and my telegram post got 3 thousand views, bringing the project to many people's attention.

Ugh. #Xfce has relied on #Transifex (as well as dozens of volunteers) for our localisation efforts for many years. I'm really not looking forward to see how this acquisition will "transform our digital-first global experiences"

Após bastante tempo sen actualizar as cadeas de orixe, onte, por fin, a xentiña de @nextcloud cargou os orixinais en #transifex da documentación de usuario.
Levo a mañá traballando na súa tradución. Agardo tela a tempo, antes da publicación da última versión. -
I believe that #FreeSoftware #development needs free software #tools.
I’m tired of all the excuses for injecting #proprietary software like #GitHub, #Discord, #Transifex, #Slack, etc. into the development workflow. What's the point of making free software then?
We *do* have good free software tools available, we just need to use them.
Projects like #Forgejo show us exactly how it's done. Free software all the way, no compromises, no excuses. 👍
This is exactly the right direction.
-
Two good things I like about #Tenacity when compared to #Audacity:
▶️ Hosted on #Codeberg.org (based on the #FreeSoftware #Forgejo) rather than #GitHub (#proprietary)
▶️ Translation platform is hosted.weblate.org (based on free software #Weblate) rather than #Transifex (proprietary) -
Me pregunto qué clase de quilombo llevó a necesitar que en #Transifex necesitaran crear una localización específica para la ciudad de Buenos Aires en Argentina, además de la de Argentina en general: https://explore.transifex.com/languages/ #L10N

excuse me @Jami
do you think is a good idea to use some kind of automatic machine #translation system in #Transifex? (may be AI, IDK)
I wish you well in the future. I'll no longer contribute to your software after all these years. I can affort to keep it up to date, but what I will not do is also train your/transifex AI system proof reading all its mess. Thank you. Bye.

-
@stefan would you be interested in using #transifex instead? We use it at @nodebb , and it works very well. It allows those without programming experience to contribute to the localization effort.
Happy to help you get started. I have no affiliation with that company. They offer free plans for open source products.

The #FOSS community at large needs to cure its addiction to #proprietary services like #GitHub, #Discord, #Steam, #Transifex and whatnot.
We can do better than this!

https://dogmazic.net est propulsé par le logiciel libre #Ampache. Il nécessite de bonnes volontés pour ajouter des traductions pour la prochaine version que nous déploierons. #Dogmazic a surtout besoin du fr.
Ampache supporte de très nombreuses langues et c'est l'ensemble des utilisateurs d'Ampache dans le monde qui vont profiter de vos contributions. Elles sont centralisées via le service en ligne #Transifex !
Rendez-vous ici : https://explore.transifex.com/ampache/ampache/ -
Looks like #syncthing might switch from #Transifex to #Weblate
+1 for FOSS

@iosifidis hello 👋, there are two issue so at #Transifex which I ask you for support. I dunno speak greek. Thanks.

Welp, I guess that the #transifex #github integration is working then, my inbox thanks you 🤣
