The problem with #vibecoding is that it puts blind irrational faith into AI coding tools which are still pretty buggy. It borderline embraces incompetence. That's a toxic combination, doomed to crash and burn eventually. I don’t think this is a practice worth defending, let alone celebrating.

Hey everyone! We have an update on our Open Collective situation now that one of our original maintainers has returned.

To start, access is now current among all current maintainers (gperson is now an admin of it). With that being said, we have a change in plans in what we want to do with the funds now. Mainly, we're looking to spend it on helping #Tenacity, such as getting a Mac and being able to properly test macOS builds, or even buying Windows code signing certificates to start.

Ich kämpfe gerade mal wieder mit #audacity 3.7.8. und #tenacity 1.3.4.: Ich möchte mehrere Gesangsspuren übereinander aufnehmen. Dafür erstelle ich erst eine Rhymthmusspur, um jeweils eine Referenz zu haben. bei beiden Programmen habe ich das Problem, dass beim Abspielen bzw. auch den weiteren Aufnahmen die erste Spur immer deutlich schneller ist als die anderen. Wenn ich die erste Spur stummschalte, dann sind die anderen Spuren in sich korrekt. Aber ich möchte ja für die weiteren Aufnahmen die Rhythmusspur und die bereits aufgenommenen anderen Stimmen hören. Die Rate ist bei allen Spuren die gleiche. Eine Möglichkeit, die Abspielgeschwindigkeit für die einzelnen Spuren einzustellen, habe ich gerade gefunden. Sie ist bei allen Spuren auf 1,0.
Ich habe Audacity und Tenacity auf Linux (Opensuse) installiert.
Hat wer eine Idee, was ich tun kann...?

It's been a little bit since we last gave an update on what's up with #Tenacity itself, aside from testing week, so here's what's happened today.

First off, we finally got to fixing an issue with #Windows builds failing with (s)cache enabled under Ninja. We added a patch for #wxWidgets in our vcpkg fork that we'll upstream over to wxWidgets.

Next up, we're making some Windows manifest tweaks. Basic, but we'll focus on improved Windows #HiDPI support after that work is merged.

Not too long ago, we discovered there was a fake "mirror" of #Tenacity to #SourceForge. As of today, it looks like SourceForge took it down, along with the account impersonating @gperson.

For now, we have no plans regarding SourceForge, except for the possibility of creating a legitimate redirect to prevent this from ever happening again. We are still debating that, however.

I am using #Pop_OS #Linux with #Cosmic for a while now. For everyday's work it's wonderful. But software like #Inkscape #Tenacity #Ardour etc. keep crashing all the time and are barely usable. Does anyone has made the same experience?

Starting in 1.4, we plan to upgrade #Tenacity's license from the GPL v2 (or later) to GPL v3 (or later). Most source files going forward, unless otherwise stated, will be available under the GPL v2 or later and will continue to be that way. However, if we want #ASIO support, we would probably have to backport some changes to 1.3.5 to allow for making GPL v3 (or later) builds. This shouldn't be much of an issue, but we're not completely sure how well this would work.

Unfortunately, we don't have a whole lot to report, but we have been readying a new release of #libmad. The last thing we have will be for source packaging via CPack as we will now start providing our own source tarballs.

Once we get libmad 0.16.5 released and in #vcpkg, we'll get going on #Tenacity 1.3.5, which will feature updated dependencies mainly. That also means we'll update our Flatpak too!

Hey everyone! Not much activity to report on this time, but just some house keeping that's just been done, mainly two PRs that were merged!

The first PR: fixes an issue where #Tenacity would crash on startup after going back to the latest stable version and resetting the toolbar layout. Toolbar preferences are also now properly reset when upgrading to 1.4.

The second PR: more cherry picks from upstream, but this time they're from the latest development version of AU 3.
