    build.opensuse.org/project/sho…

  6. @joergi @clero @Oleksii An Android or iOS device is not needed to run #SignalDesktop on #LinuxPhones, even if registering a brand new account. #SignalCli works great as the primary device, either on your desktop or on your Linux phone itself. It is available from #Flathub and from Alpine / pmOS repos.

I think you can also use Flare as the primary device, but the option was hidden in the UI last I checked.

  11. Hey @signalapp, would it be possible to implement taking photos from within the #Signal #Desktop app?

    See this feature request:
    community.signalusers.org/t/fe

I use the #Librem5 as my daily #phone with #Signal. Quickly making and sending a #photo from within Signal Desktop is really something I miss.

  19. @SvenBothe @tinker @signalapp Technically, #SignalDesktop does not require a phone to sync with.

It requires a primary device to sync with at least once every 30 days... that duration could have been reduced since I checked last.

My primary device is my Linux desktop running Signal-Cli from Flathub.

A phone number is required once to activate a new account - at registration time only - afaik, and I still hate that requirement, for the record.

Screenshot of #SignalDesktop I took last year on #Librem5.

Regarding browsers, the default #FirefoxESR does not need any zooming in, and neither does #GnomeWeb, #Kumo or #AngelFish. On #BraveBrowser, I zoom in 125%.

Btw, being able to use desktop apps on #LinuxMobile is generally considered one of its advantages!

If you need to get signal-desktop working on a Linux machine where you don't have root and are using nix home-manager to install programs then you may need to use `signal-desktop --no-sandbox --disable-gpu` or it will die with an error about not being able to start the sandbox or finding the GPU libraries. #Signal #SignalDesktop

the #MollyFOSS fork supposedly allows for linking more devices.

    otherwise, #signaldesktop in #debian #proot in #termux?

or use a #e2ee messenger that doesn't limit multiple accounts or linking, like #deltachat.

  46. @dos @ati1 @linmob That automatic switching from speaker to handset is only for the Calls app, right?

I was referring to #e2ee voice calls on #SignalDesktop, #ElementMessenger, #DinoIM and #DeltaChat. I did try #PureOS Crimson alpha a few days ago but forgot to test this, so would definitely be interested if there's any news regarding this : )

  50. @Berker @Sxan Community maintained #flatpak version with ARM builds here: signalflatpak.github.io/signal/

#SignalMessenger does not allow the desktop version to be your primary device, so mine is #SignalCLI flathub.org/en/apps/org.asamk. on my desktop, and the L5 is a linked device.

Btw, it looks like official ARM builds of #SignalDesktop will be available soon but for Debian-based distros only.
