  1. This is the last thing blocking from gaining Servo support, so hopefully we can get this figured out.

I don't want to wait another year just to rewrite my Servo engine backend for a third time.

  2. @UndeadLeech

Ah yes. I think you're right about the tires. Happy I was wrong! :)

Looking forward to when Kumo is available with Servo from the Flathub repos. Even if it's buggy as all hell, I just want a relatively easily installed option to help test/use/bug report a servo browser to help Servo move forward!

    Happy you're doing this work!

  3. @UndeadLeech

Is this a recent change? I just tried installing Kumo from Flathub, and I don't see any option to change browser engine anywhere. The gif you embedded in your post doesn't seem to be showing for me, so if it shows where to enable this, I still haven't been able to see it.

PS Isn't Kumo a big car tire brand? I ,ean, I get that it's a different field, but it seems it could be an issue down the road...

Screenshot of #SignalDesktop I took last year on #Librem5.

Regarding browsers, the default #FirefoxESR does not need any zooming in, and neither does #GnomeWeb, #Kumo or #AngelFish. On #BraveBrowser, I zoom in 125%.

Btw, being able to use desktop apps on #LinuxMobile is generally considered one of its advantages!

  7. I've had it with the ridiculous #Kumo Cloud-based #Mitsubishi thermostats use.

The thing randomly forgets the schedule and sits there claiming it's following it when in fact it didn't adjust the temperature up or down as it specified. Usually it's been forgetting to turn the temperatue down at night every week or two, but the other day it forgot to turn it up in the morning.

Mitsubishi's solution to this is to give the thermostat its own wifi hotspot. But first of all, who in hell makes a thermostat that requires network access to change the temperature? And secondly, that's bull. It made no difference whether I used their hotspot or mine. Online forums make it clear that this problem has existed for years.

So now I get to throw away the money I paid for a lifetime cloud subscription, buy an adapter that makes it work with third party thermostats, and pay someone to install it. Oh joy.

The only bright side is that I kept my old Nest.

It's not the only problem. If you want the heat to go up fast (which with a heat pump, means switching to electric heat mode, which isn't efficient, your only option is to crank the temperature up. The Nest will let you override the eco mode. It doesn't take into account outside temperatures, so when it's cold out and the only option is an override, it doesn't do it unless the temp drops about three degrees below setting. So it will sit there all day colder than I want. In fact, it rarely keeps the temperature at the specified setting. The HVAC system itself works great, but the thermostat is a piece of garbage.

  8. Does anyone else have any experience with a #Mitsubishi #HeatPump that uses a #thermostat with #Kumo cloud support?

We've had ours a year. The Kumo app is just as bad as everyone said (worse actually, that could be a whole other post--it's pretty clearly using a homegrown cross-platform UI toolkit)), but there is a HomeBridge plugin, so at least I can adjust the temperature without using the app and use the app only for scheduling. But none of that is my issue.

Periodically the Mitsubishi thermostat forgets to change the temperature.

We have a trivial program. All week set to 66F at 6am, set to 61F at 8pm.

It has never failed to turn the temperature up. But every few weeks or months it forgets to turn it down. I'll be lying in bed and feeling hot, notice the fans are running, check the temp and see that it claims to be running the program, but it's not. In fact, it's running the heat even though it's a degree above 66F and over an hour since the scheduled drop.

I can futz around with the Kumo app, but it doesn't fix it. I have to manually set the temp to 61F. It happened twice last week.

I've tried disconnecting HomeBridge, just to be sure it isn't interfering. I've tried it with the WiFi hotspot the installers put in (they got tired of debugging WiFi issues for customers). I've tried it with mine. I've erased the schedule and started over.

I cannot believe they released a thermostat with this basic an issue. I've complained via the AppStore. I've complained via a contact address on the website. I'll be complaining to the installers when they do a checkup in a few weeks.

This is nuts. Are they relying on cloud access to do the change? I haven't been able to identify any networking issues at failure time, but their cloud service flakes out every week or so. Is there some obscure C to F conversion bug? (I suspect that's why it reads a degree higher than the set temperature most of the time.)

How could you get something this basic this wrong?

Heat pump and air exchange work great though.

  9. @BrownKnowser Hard to believe it was almost 6 yrs ago; I remember spending the afternoon following Kumo and Long Ma through the Byward Market and along Wellington, like it was yesterday. Amazing spectacle! #LaMachine #Kumo #LongMa #Ottawa #Canada150
