  7. @alberto_cottica
That has seemed to me for YEARS to be the blatantly obvious tack to follow on taxation.
    Western economies now run mostly on non-productive #MoneyShifting industries (everything #finance-related, through #dividends, #insurance, #advertising, #gambling etc.)
Even #CorporateTax is a distortion & should be zero, as it also taxes *production* and thus employment. (But of course, tax the profiteers running the corps.)
But as we all know, none of this will ever happen. :blobamused:

  8. Totally agree, growing corporate profits don't help the average worker that just earns a salary (except via superannuation) and leads to #inequality

What people are not talking about along these lines is how the tax burden has been shifted to the workers instead of businesses too.
If the workers are the only ones paying taxes and you get rid of the workers, who's paying taxes?

  26. CW: Tax, UKpol

Corporate tax cuts brought in by the Tories but supported by Labour won't generate much investment:

"An analysis by the thinktanks Demos & Common Wealth has found that the measure, known as full expensing, will cost nearly £30bn in lost tax revenue & spur a maximum of £10.5bn in fresh investment. The Treasury says the move will generate £15bn in investment, still only half what it has cost the taxpayer."

    Quelle surprise.
