One of our higher-paid billionaires is Warren Buffett, and he only gets $100,000 a year in salary and bonus combined.
All of these people are keeping their taxes down by keeping their salaries down. They are not avoiding compensation altogether, however, as they are well paid through the growing value of their stock. In 2024, Bezos’ wealth increased by $80 billion, Zuckerberg’s by $113 billion, Musk’s by $213 billion. Even better, they can enjoy this growing wealth entirely free of income tax and reporting."

"IRS funding provided by the #InflationReductionAct—a Democratic measure unanimously opposed by the congressional #GOP—has allowed the agency to more aggressively pursue rich #TaxDodgers whose more complicated returns require greater resources to audit than those of working-class Americans, who were audited at a higher rate than millionaires under the #Trump administration.
"Republican lawmakers are currently trying to slash IRS funding and scrap a free online tax-filing system that the agency launched this year. As The Hill reported earlier this month, House Republicans have proposed cutting IRS funding for fiscal year 2025 by $2.2 billion, specifically targeting enforcement resources.
"The IRS estimated earlier this year that if Republicans don't succeed in rolling back funding increases, the agency could collect roughly $560 billion from big #corporations and rich tax cheats over the next 10 years."

While prosecutions for benefit fraud are on the increase, you would think that in an fair and equal country, tax evasion by the rich would be also prosecuted with the same zeal.
Not in the UK.
In the last 5 years there’s been a 67% fall in HMRC investigations of the rich leading to prosecutions for tax evasion. Only 11 rich tax dodgers were prosecuted in the last 5 years.
This is deliberate. And the same tax dodgers are the ones clamoring for tax cuts from their mates in the Tory government.
