  3. Australia's wealthiest companies — think Murdoch's NewsCorp — dodge their fair share of tax while the rest of us foot the bill. Meanwhile, the government has managed to waste a staggering $37 billion out of the $58 billion Defence budget. Priorities, anyone? Check out the TAXDATA corporate tax transparency app to see exactly who's paying what.

  4. @Ratoncita @dyckron

This isn't just "unfortunate"—it's the logical result of the deliberate, slow-motion "starve the beast" strategy we see across the West. Conservative and neoliberal governments underfund public hospitals until they buckle, then use the resulting "inefficiency" as an excuse to funnel public money into the pockets of private healthcare providers.
We are seeing the exact same playbook being run in Australia. Our Medicare system is being hollowed out by decades of frozen rebates and the creeping "Americanisation" of our clinics. Just like in Canada, we’re seeing "ambulance ramping" (paramedics stuck in hospital driveways for hours because there are no beds) and a growing gap where if you can’t afford private insurance, you’re stuck in a second-tier system.
When healthcare becomes a for-profit industry rather than a human right, people like Prashant pay the price. We have to stop accepting "budget constraints" as an excuse while billions are handed out in corporate subsidies. Solidarity with the healthcare workers on the front lines who are being set up to fail by these policy choices.

  5. Why Political Factions Are Undermining Australian Democracy?
    #AusPol, #AustraliaPolitics, #DemocracyNow, #LaborRight

Political factions in Labor and LNP parties support neoliberalism and U.S. militarism. Factions are internal party power blocs hijacking Australia’s democracy.

  6. "They tried to divide the Australian community in the election campaign, and they ended up dividing themselves. And the consequence of that is that the Liberal [aka CONservatives] Party is now barely bigger than the crossbench in the parliament." #Australia #auspol #election2025 #AustraliaPolitics

  7. A few days after the Albanese LABOR government was resoundingly reelected, Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen boldly declared:
"In 2022, the Australian people voted to finally act on climate change. After three years of progress […] in 2025 they said keep going."
But the Albanese LABOR government continues to piss down our collars while claiming it is just a bit of rain! #AustraliaPolitics #auspol #election2025 #climateemergency #NetZero #globalwarming youtube.com/watch?v=0jH6zzjyCX

  8. Back in 1983, I built the election computer system for ATN-7 in Sydney (with a PDP-11) to process and display results from the Dept of Industry & Commerce.
It worked well, but the same could not be said of the Network 9 computer which went horribly wrong.

The satirists were brutal the next day.

I did feel sorry for them (it could have been any of us).

It was quite exciting being in the Tally Room in Canberra as Bob Hawke claimed victory.

  9. Polls closed at 6pm but the Labor Party's historic win was obvious by 8.30pm! Will Prime Minister Albanese now put his foot to the pedal or continue tinkering at the edges as he has done for the past 3 years? #AustraliaPolitics #auspol #election2025 #DeadeyesDutton #RWNJ thenewdaily.com.au/news/politi
