Finally found the time to play around with #FlatcarLinux. Setup a bare metal node just with Docker, after that a single #k3s node (including auto updates). Nice!
But the base system just with Docker running seems to gobble up quite a lot of RAM (~700 MB) in comparison to my tiny ArchLinux based host. Needs some investigation, could be a show-stopper for my small #Homelab hosts. 🤔

Yeah, installed some Linux today 🐧
After 6 years of Windows only on my desktop, I took some time today and installed CachyOS (based on ArchLinux, which I used around 2010) on my old Ubuntu partition. I'm still experimenting around but I'm looking forward to replace Windows nearly completely. KDE on CachyOS looks awesome and Proton, Steam et al are much better today than 6 years ago.
Another step in my crusade to de-enshittify my digital life 😄 -

Warum ich heute müde bin? Weil ich kurz vorm Schlafengehen diesen Fehler-Screen auf dem Laptop bekam und dann eine Stunde genervt-panisch versucht habe, das Notebook wieder an den Start zu bekommen.
Irgendwas hat #GDM zerschossen. Also nicht Ich, sondern irgendetwas, denn ich habe seit Wochen nichts umkonfiguriert oder hinzuinstalliert, nur brav alle 1-2 Tage Updates installiert.
Ich habe keine Ahnung, was genau und warum das ausgelöst hat, aber mit #LightDM startet das Ding wieder ohne Murren. I got the last Windows game I really cared about working through Linux a week ago, so I've taken my ROG Ally X and installed CachyOS on it and have it working like a Steam Deck would. I think it's time to do the same for the arcade machine (though running Attract Mode). Maybe I'll write up a blog on it if anyone would be interested?
This is one of those times where I kind of want to set up a declarative configuration so that maybe other people can use it as well for their own.

Work on the #XeroLinux TUI has concluded. We have added better support for #BTRFS with snapper n and Grub-BTRFS pre-configured out the box.
We have also added option to install #Hyprland with the #Noctalia Shell slightly pre-configured for a good starting point.

1st off, reworked the #BTRFS implementation adding Snapper and grub-btrfs support for snapshot management.
2nd take a close look at the attached screenshot. Working hard on that as we speak.

I've started preparing a "discussion" for packaging.python.org that aims to explain to #Python package upstreams how downstream #packaging works, and what they could do to help us. I've based it on my #Gentoo experience, and I'd appreciate feedback from other distributions, since their experience may be different from mine.
