  4. 🚀 Oh joy, another GitHub hero has graced us with their *entirely necessary* flight simulator written in a bespoke programming language. Because clearly, the world was desperately lacking in homemade simulators that nobody asked for. 🤦‍♂️ The only thing taking off here is the delusion of grandeur. ✈️

  9. it's so fucking cool that i found a helicopter for microsoft flight sim 2024 that is both compatible with VR stick control (so i can fly with 100% realistic body position) and has a livery for our local TV helicopter (that got sold off, sadly). seemingly small, tedious things to the developer like making a bunch of liveries of real-life helicopters  can be a huge thing for users like me.

my dad was in TV and he knew the guy who flew this helicopter really well, and was always amazed at his skill. he would have enjoyed this at least as much as I do.

helicopter is CowanSim 206L3. it seems basically all of CowanSim's helicopters are fully VR capable. happy to give out recommendations, i bought all of cowansim's helicopters lol - they were on sale on the official marketplace as of yesterday.

  12. Just being a virtual pest to the virtual ATC by flying from Centennial to Denver International for a touch-and-go and back. On the return trip, I was given the left downwind for runway 35R. A left downwind for a right parallel runway? No thanks. I choose life. I flew the right downwind. The fake ATC didn't seem to mind.

Are used to love computers back in the 90s. Most of my friends and I were into some form of programming, be it #Basic or #Pascal.

Computers were fun in those days. I used to be a structural engineer and I would look forward to Monday mornings after a weekend of beavering away at some program that helped you to design retaining walls or something or other.

My friends would be truly amazed and bring out their amazing programs for the design of reinforced concrete beams etc. Little did we know that about 1000 other engineers and techno people all over the world had spent their weekends coming up with the same thing.!

Games were fun too: #SpaceInvaders, or my favourite was #Snipes, developed by some engineers at Cisco I think although I could be wrong. #DukeNukem , #Lemmings and Microsoft #FlightSimulator used to be fun too. But after that it all start to fall in a bit of a heap.

Oh, I didn’t mention #Myst. That was great too and sadly myst!

    PS: Welcome to Mastodon!
