Been trying to cook up a systemd-sysext for crowdsec + crowdsec firewall bouncer to extend the base flatcar container linux image. Surprisingly straightforward with the sysext bakery.
However, crowdsec needs a mutable folder where it can write stuff (e.g logs etc.). This defaults to /var/crowdsec/data. I can create the /var/crowdsec/data folder but when crowdsec attempts to create and write to the logs folder below this I see a permission error.
Am I missing something obvious? Anyone know how I can fix this?

Though the fact that talos is similar to something like #flatcarLinux where it is also the OS.
Not installing like a base Debian or fedora install, keeping that all patched and doing the things.. it’s definitely appealing.
Now just to get qemu+ssh working in the libvirt provider and I should be golden.
I’ll need to get probably argo up and deploying charts, then I’ll get the other hardware in order. I haven’t used argo in years, so it’ll be nice to learn.

Me 4 months ago: oh yeah I'll build Flatcar Linux for my little Odroid M1S army, it'll be easy with 6.12 kernel supporting it
Me now: I can't manage to make a booting kernel, it's too hard for me, so many regrets
(I think I'll try some other configs but I'll give up soon)

Hmmm, does #flatcarlinux really not support #podman? Or is it just accidentally missing from the container runtime docs?
https://www.flatcar.org/docs/latest/container-runtimes/
It is also not present in the sysext-bakery.

Has anyone used #flatcarlinux on #hetzner? Any opinions, experiences, hints, tipps, tricks?

Finally found the time to play around with #FlatcarLinux. Setup a bare metal node just with Docker, after that a single #k3s node (including auto updates). Nice!
But the base system just with Docker running seems to gobble up quite a lot of RAM (~700 MB) in comparison to my tiny ArchLinux based host. Needs some investigation, could be a show-stopper for my small #Homelab hosts. 🤔

@Lore oh I wish! It's been too long since getting a heap of mayonnaise on a pile of fries. Sadly I'm sitting out from this #FOSDEM. _Though_ some on my team will be there, including from the @flatcar (#flatcar #flatcarlinux) and #InspektorGadget projects.
