I didn't realize that #simple_mobile_tools was forked as #fossify.
Anyone have experience with fossify? Do you think they'll continue to be developed?

Good grief! I noticed that the Fossify Calendar and File Manager had made it to Google Play, and also noticed that the reviews for the old Simple Calendar were tanking...
The top one was this:
It originally said there would be a one-time payment of 2.99 after the free trial. I thought I'd gladly pay that so I continued to use it. When the trial was up I was given the option to buy not for the single payment of 2.99 but for $15/week! The app itself is exactly what I want over other calendars I've tried. And I would pay for adless, but over $2/day is insane. Banner ads would be tolerable but it has video ads when opening the app and adding an event. Wish I'd read the reviews.
(Emphasis added.) Before the sale, Simple Mobile Calendar did in fact have a single one-time payment option of around $2.99.
The company replied:
Sorry to hear that the price for the Premium subscription seems high to you. Please, note that the App on the Premium version opens up many exciting features and opportunities for you and it is definitely worth the price. The Premium version has no ads. Thank you!
"Seems" high"? $15/week for a simple calendar is exorbitant.
Video adds on a basic tool are insane.
I am so glad I uninstalled all of the ones I was using, and started replacing them with the Fossify fork!
Meanwhile, the Fossify apps are continuing to roll out on F-Droid, with the Contacts, Phone (dialer) and SMS Messenger now available as well.

I just tried Futo. Definitely worth checking out. After downloading the models, the app works completely offline, and with high precisition too! Such a #privacyrespecting #qualityoflife feature.

I used to have problems with it because the pictures it sent via #MMS were of far poorer quality than the other programs I tried (including the #AOSP default Messaging app), but they seem to have fixed that.
They also have added a nice big button to trigger your phone's native dictation service (you can turn that off if you don't want it, or don't have one).
It has successfully replaced the proprietary SMS program I was using before, which makes me quite glad.

If you would like to test the upcoming version of GitNex, RC 1 is out. It will be available on F-Droid soon. The APK is available on the release page.
*The Play Store will only get the stable release later.
This is still a work in progress (WIP) until all the UI changes and refactors are done. Another RC may hit the release page if needed.
