There’s something special about a clean terminal and a fresh coffee on a system that just works the way you want it to.

Spent way too much time hopping distros, but Arch + KDE is where I finally settled. It’s nice not having to fight your own OS for once.

Ok fediverse, I have a #linux question - which OS should I use for my #cyberdeck project?

It's going to have an fairly small lo-res e-ink screen, run on an old raspberry pi, and run off a battery pack.

(Side-note: I think this is probably the point where I start learning about the #ricing, desktop environments, etc...)

Look rétro sur mon #thinkpad yoga avec le theme de couleur #gruvbox et test concluant de #cosmic sur ce processeur #intel #celeron .

Le système prend plus de ressources que #budgie mais il répond bien alors je vais garder les deux configurations au cas où. C'est l'un des avantages que j'apprécie avec le pingouin:choisir .

Le fond d'écran vient de Budgie. J'ai aussi manuellement rajouté les couleurs du Terminal mais ça c'est probablement dû à ma configuration maison.

Думаю, такой "календарь" смотрится чутка лучше. Особенно, если я приварю виджет с погодой.

Пока ещё не выпустил в Git, ибо оно работает, как говно. + Ещё я решил юзануть ИИшку чтоб получить похожий результат, но на чистом GTK (без Astal'а (что как бы лучше, но всё же))

Второй скрин - то, что получилось с помощью ИИ и парочкой моих правок.

Buggy, crunky but still works.
Нужно наладить очистку поисковой строки при нажатии кнопки/закрытии окна, а также наладить нормальное открытие после закрытия через ESC. Ну и стиль настроить...

Тут я уже взял код из примера (тут), ибо изобретать велосипед как-то не горю желанием. Единственное, прикрутил скроллинг вместо отображения 8-ми элемнтов. Ну а хуле нам?

В попытках сделать лончер с задним фоном.
Задний фон уже присутствует.

Quite a change of course, but I switched over to KDE Plasma, themed using Matugen instead of Stylix. The "overhead" of letting Home-manager/Stylix symlink other files across my home directory didn't sit well with me.

I had to chmod a couple of gtk-related dirs and files, in order to prevent Plasma from modifying them though. Here's my setup with Matugen:

Apps (clockwise from left):
Dolphin, Qalculate! (GTK), Qalculate! (Qt), Nautilus

This is the kind of uniform theming I wanted.

I honestly hated the "splash" quotes from the #Hyprland background image - they are immature at best.

But when I had the idea of replacing them by my own set of quotes, it really grew on me instantly.

So in the end, it's all about context and customization, really.

Это, конечно, не идеал и не то, что я примерно накидывал, но оно становится лучше...

Единственные проблемы:
1) Как мне взять base16-подобные цвета из GTK темы? Я не хочу каждый раз рекомлилировать scss файл, перезапуская Astal во время смены темы. Хочу, чтобы Astal полностью был завязан с GTK темой.

2) Индикатор клавиатуры. Сейчас там висит заглушка, однако это дело в целом поправимое. Но тут я хочу узнать у разработчика, как можно получить информацию о текущей раскладке. Если это пока/вообще не реализовано, то тогда нужно использовать внешний xkb модуль. Как пример I-Bus, который у меня в вируталке почему-то глючит, со временем ломая стрелки и backspace, а также не всегда переключая раскладку... ЗАТО ОН РАБОТАЕТ В ЛЮБОМ КОМПОЗИТОРЕ и для получения раскладки достаточно ibus engine | cut -d ":" -f 2 (Ну и капса добавить можно для приличия).

3) Батарея. В виртуалке, очевидно, нет батарейки. Нужно сделать так, чтобы при отсутствии батарей отображал другую иконку.

4) Звук. Astal дружит с Pipewire, но не с Alsa. Pipewire (почему-то у меня) не дружит с виртуалкой. Самое интересное: Вне виртуалки, Astal покойно реагирует на отсутствие звука (запущенной PipeWire службы). Здесь же, из-за этого он не даёт загрузить бар. Точнее, из-за того, что иконка не подгружается, бар не грузится.

5) Wireless (Wi-Fi). Похожая ситуация. Wi-Fi - нет. Есть только провод (в виртуалке). При попытке подгрузить опять зависает Astal. Надо решить и эту проблему.
