i'm mostly on #android and i'd recommend people to get the yuito app, it has reasonably good amount of customizable options that can match the look and feel of certain other platform
there is probably a similar app on iOS that keeps things simple and familiar

I have wondered which posts I see when I search a hashtag (or if it's in a column, or I follow it...). This flowchart (https://axbom.com/mastodon-tips/#flowchart) by @axbom seems to say that the search scope is the local instance + federated timeline. Posts get to the federated timeline if someone on my instance follows the tooter or boosted or replied to the toot; or if the instance uses relays to grab public feeds of other instances then it's all those toots too. :ggbridge:

Notably, I'm not entirely hiding mentions, just putting it behind a warning because I _am_ a rather curious individual :P But if it was consuming my feed or my headspace too much, I'd go in there and change that setting so it's removed. I'm also not applying this filter to conversations, notifications, and profiles.

I've just been hit by that same bug when uploading an audio file - ALT text was gone after upload, but stayed once editing the post.
I'm pretty sure that didn't use to be the case in earlier versions of Mastodon 🤔

Can be useful when replies are not informative out of the context of the original post (e.g. “Agree!”, “Did it work?”). -

#FediTips: use hashtags, lots of 'em! Mastodon doesn't support keyword search on the text of posts (not sure about other fediverse software), so tags are a great way to get more eyes on your posts. Please use CamelCase so people with screenreaders can make sense of your tags (same with compound brand names etc). For your job offer post, I'd suggest stuff like #jobs, #JobOffer, #SituationsVacant, and of course #CivicTech.

However, of the 3 #Android apps I use # the PC browser version, none seems to be able to either (better) filter the Followers for people I do NOT yet follow back, or at least show them in reverse chronological order (which would also be important to eliminate inactive accounts, e.g. #MAGA and #Russian #SleeperCells .
Any idea how to solve this?

Have you tried moving to another, more capable platform that can accomodate your posts? The one you're on cannot - that's for sure.
And who cares what happens to mastotron .social anyway? It's just a deprecated, monolithic silo that has outlived its usefulness. Just block that instance and move on - away from all of that #November Rain trash left over from the initial #twitugees that returned to Twitter now that the big freakout ended up anything to nothing at all when Elon took out the trash.

Test at least also Tusky, Fedilab, Yuito and Twidere.
All have unique and/or convenient features.
Twidere, less known, but it is nice if you can't do without the blue bird feed.
