Seriously - personally, when I open a Mastodon app I'd like a blank page (or at least just my own page) so that I can jot down the 25 different things I've thought of posting undisturbed.
Haven't found a setting yet. Abyone who knows?

I don't understand ... I thought my home feed was just accounts I followed, maybe local to my server accounts too. My home feed has been full of trash that I'm like, why did I ever follow this account? But then I click to look at the account page, and I'm not following them ... and they aren't a newsie.social either.
Did something change? Or have I just always been wrong and confused about my "home" feed?

Can a keyword for the Sharky antenna consist of multiple words enclosed in single or double quotes?

On my own profile page now I see "Trending Now" instead of "Featured Hashtags."
How do I view my own featured hashtags? How does anyone view them?
I'm not looking for "Followed hashtags" but the ones I've set as featured in my profile. I routinely use them to review my own related posts.

I'm not too happy about this. Looks like if I reply to a post and the OP deletes the post, then my reply will be removed as well. Is there a way to avoid that? I hate spending time to respond, only to see it disappear because the person I responded to somehow decided my effort wasn't worth a penny.

When I reply to someone it is more politely to do it privately ? That is what it looks like ? #Mastodonnewbie #MastodonQuestions -
Do the "Show More" links automatically appear in long toots, or is there some switch you enable like a CW? Sometimes I want to write a lot but don't want to take up a lot of space for people who aren't interested in the topic. #MastodonQuestions

Potentially a dumb question, especially given how long I've been on Mastodon, and have been promoting it to people. How do I see a person's own toots? Not their boosts, replies to others, etc. Just the ones they craft with their own fingers ( if they're posting a website using a toot that's fine too). But ones they themselves toot. I thought I knew, but now that I search a friend's for his snow report, I couldn't separate all those things out. 😞

Is there a way to post a URL to my *profile* page on mastodon without an @ symbol in the link? Many systems will reject links with that character or try to convert it to an email.
ANSWER: use "users" in the URL eg:
https: // sauropods.win /users /futurebird
Thank you @clayote I will try to remember this!

Given the on-going lowgrade discord-themed spam, we clearly need moderation on the trending hashtags too.
A spammer should NOT be able to spam their way to the top. Could there be a check to see if posts are from suspended accounts added?
This list is produced by the Mastodon web-interface, yes? Is it the responsibility of our server? (I will ask!)
Thank you to all #mods out there keeping a lid on this. It's annoying.

Is there a way to have ActivityPub post only the first 200 characters of a Wordpress post to Mastodon?
Just the title alone wouldn't be enough for me to click on a link. And the full 4,000 word post would make me instantly block an account.

While Dolphin can display Mastodon, unlike UC Browser which just shows a blank page, it's absolutely horrible.
Any alternatives to Tusky and Megalodon that people would recommend giving a try?

@jupiter_rowland Also, the bigger issue for me is that I have #mastodonquestions but there's not really a great, obvious source out there for #mastodonsupport from a real human.
Specifically, I *want* longer posts, for longer, more research-heavy articles. Not fond of threaded toots.
I think this would also be great for many other uses, such as #journalism, which could help attract more to #mastodon.
If you have any thoughts on various #longpost solutions for Mastodon users, I'd welcome them.
