I got a notification that someone edited a post that i interacted with. That's fine, they've had this kind of notification for years. I click out and it shows me the post, right?
Not anymore. It takes me to the offending poster's profile instead with no hint of what edit was made to which post i shared or liked. -
The android Mastodon app changed A LOT of little things that annoy me as i find them but the text entry field is now clearly not designed for toots more than half a screen long because it does not scroll.
I can't scroll in the compose field without selecting text at the same time.

I wonder why nobody ever talks about #Moshidon when it comes to #Android apps for #Mastodon . I have just discovered it while searching for a replacement for the official #MastodonApp after the last update unnecessarily removed the ability to access bookmarks and favourites. Why did they even do that? Also, the official app had already shortened the search history to far too few entries for my taste a while ago, and Moshidon gave me back my huge search history.
I don't know what the official app is trying to achieve with removing functionality. It's always been a minimalistic client, but why the short search history when you can just delete your history if it gets too long for your taste? Why no more bookmarks and favourites? I don't understand the motivation behind those changes.
Taking away my 200 or so most recent searches also took a lot of convenience. I hope Moshidon keeps the long history forever, now I need to populate it.

When I first started using Mastodon, I tried #Tusky but I quickly dropped it for the official #MastodonApp because I found it easier to use. However, I'm seriously considering going back to Tusky with all this unnecessary enshittification lately. First they shortened the search history, meaning I couldn't just scroll through pages upon pages of old searches like I used to. Now my bookmarks are unavailable, and I don't know how to use Mastodon without them, or rather, the way I like to use Mastodon relies heavily on bookmarks.

What the fuck is this?! The latest update for the Mastodon Android app dropped the likes and bookmarks, or so it seems. I can still like and bookmark toots, but I can't see my favourites and bookmarks anymore. This is bullshit.

Por lo tanto me quedo con tusky que es un poco más avanzado que la app normal de #mastodon , pero más estable a las otras dos.

Mein learning heute morgen: #tusky vom #android runtergeworfen und #mastodonapp installiert. Ganz schnell festgestellt dass die "gespeicherte Beiträge" Funktion fehlt und den Rückweg angetreten.
Muss mich definitiv mehr damit auseinandersetzen woher manche Funktionen kommen, clientseitig würde dann ja auch bedeuten, dass es zb im Browser dann auch fehlt oder gibts da irgendeine Serverunterstützung?

I almost never use the app because I'm always behind my computer anyway, but now I did and IT CHANGED MY TEXT. Ok it's very minor, only the colon is missing, but that is still very weird.
It says so in the screenshots below but to be clear: this was posted on the web. When viewed in the iOS app (2026.02), the colon is missing.

Switched from official Mastodon Android app to Tusky cuz the FLASHING in official is driving me nuts. (As in, 1 in 4 times I touch the screen, something flashes/highlights for a second. Especially annoying with long posts that give a real big retina-burning flash ⚡️.)

I've always wanted to be able to filter my #mastodon feeds by people I'm following or hashtags, instead of one huge noisy feed of both.
I've got enough working now I'd love for others to give it a shot, everything is stored in your browser, no tracking or servers collecting data.

When I tap a Mastodon notification, why don't I go directly to that notification in the app? It doesn't even open the Notifications tab. Why do I have to pull down on the Notifications tab THREE times before I even get to see any new notifications?? This sucks. #mastodonapp #mastodon #ios

The fediverse might be a lot cooler to Black people if we didn't let racists secretly dog pile them in public.
The issue of "followers only pile ons" needs to be fixed already. Who can i support to get that done? Where can i lend a hand? (as someone that shouldn't program 😅)

@Arnan It doesn't fit the timelines in the official Mastodon phone app. Which has the only Fediverse user interface out there that cannot fold longer posts in.
The Mastodon Web UI can do that. All third-party Mastodon apps can do that. The Web UIs of just about the whole rest of the Fediverse from Pleroma and Misskey to Friendica and Hubzilla can do that. Phone apps for stuff that isn't Mastodon can do that.
Only the haphazardly developed official Mastodon app can't do that because it's geared towards a Fediverse with only 500 characters, a Fediverse of a kind that has never existed.
Mastodon is not the reference implementation of the Fediverse. And the official Mastodon app is not the reference implementation of Mastodon apps, much less of Fediverse apps. It only exists for there to be something official named "Mastodon" in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Just because Mastodon tossed out a lack-lustre app in 2022 for those who absolutely need something named "Mastodon" on their phones to access the Fediverse, doesn't mean that Fediverse software that has existed for almost six years longer than Mastodon and twelve years longer than that app must adapt to the existence of that app and cut down its character limit from 16,777,215 to 500 for all those who can't use Mastodon through something with another name on it than "Mastodon".
By the way: Mastodon's way of cutting longer posts up into tiny chunks of no more than 500 characters goes onto the nerves of users of Pleroma, Akkoma, Misskey, Calckey, Firefish, Iceshrimp-JS, Iceshrimp.NET, Sharkey, CherryPick, GoToSocial, snac, Hollo, Socialhome, Friendica, Hubzilla, (streams), Forte and others. But they are not allowed to complain about that, much less tell Mastodon users who do that to move someplace that offers them more characters.
