#twitugees — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #twitugees, aggregated by home.social.

  1. @feditips I wish you wouldn't create serialized hellthreads.

Have you tried moving to another, more capable platform that can accomodate your posts? The one you're on cannot - that's for sure.

And who cares what happens to mastotron .social anyway? It's just a deprecated, monolithic silo that has outlived its usefulness. Just block that instance and move on - away from all of that #November Rain trash left over from the initial #twitugees that returned to Twitter now that the big freakout ended up anything to nothing at all when Elon took out the trash.

  2. @james

    That's really interesting.

I chose that (this) machine because it has no character count limits so I can publish lengthy articles and blog posts - HowTo's, tuts, travel or recipe blogs (you never know, lolz), Etc, where I'm not concerned with #Markdown or other text formats.

I guess this is 5s glaring testament to the lack of viability of mastodon as any sort of actual community building platform (even mastodon .social doesn't really have any real semblance of community), because I never actually even pay attention to the local timeline here - it's completely irrelevant to me... My #friends in the #Fediverse are scattered across the #diaspora (no pun intended) of the Fediverse (Which, IMO, does include Diaspora, lolz).

I treat most other servers the exact same, with the exception of SDF, which really is a true community independant of any single platform infrastructure, including Fediverse servers... I do indeed watch my local timeline on our "private" server there quite closely, because other #SDF members are there and there aren't any of those rude #twitugees about. The other SDF Fediverse server is full of self-entitled #shitposters that came along during the so-called, "November Rain", so I filter a lot of those goombahs out of my streams there. I guess that's what it's actually like over on #Twitter.

If, on the other hand, this particular server is starting to garner a bad reputation, then maybe I should consider looking elsewhere where there are similar technical facilities available.

After running a public mastodon server for two and a half years (it took a whole year to get everyone to migrate away so I could close that hog down, and then almost three years of running an invite only Pleroma server (such a fricken' dream), it's no real surprise that I view mastodon as a mostly deprecated platform due to lack of innovation and feature adoption (much to the chagrin of the userbase as evidenced in the repo's issue tracker over the years) as well as it's lack of suitability for horizontally based "SmallWeb", self-hosted deployments.

You can do it, but why, when there are so many other clearly better Fediverse server platforms?

Don't get me wrong though; mastodon is a good, solid infra upon which to base the deprecated monolithic silo schema -just not until you start to approach the 20,000 user mark. If that's someone's goal, to launch a vertical scaling #monolithic_silo (that only supports plain text and a paltry 500 character count limit per post), then mastodon would be a platform I would wholeheartedly recommend to someone.

Nah, just kidding! 🤣 I'd still recommend a capable fork like #Hometown or #glitch_social lolz.

    That's just my 2¢ FWIW 🙂

  3. @Zerglingman @mnemonicoverload @tallship It does if you select that option to expand in the user's settings, but ONLY in your local mastodon client, elsewhere in the Fediverse, it's one post followed by (in her case) 5 spam messages!

For the most part, these #twitugees won't take 30 seconds to #RTFM, and then complain when it doesn't behave just like that shithole they love so much (from whence they came).

So It's not that setting on the mastodon platform that's so concerning, but instead, all the people in the #Fediverse on all of the other platforms that are getting bombed with this #spam.

I've met a couple score of really great, considerate, and attentively conscientious #newcomers from the #deprecated legacy #silo over there, who are interested in knowing how their Fediverse software works and propagates their posts - how it is received by others, and generally taking a real interest in making the Fediverse the very best neighborhood it can be...

And then there's the #narcissistic #jerks that just want everything to be like #Twitter, and by golly, come hell or high water, they're gonna make sure that everyone else in the Fediverse is going to have it served up that way.

They are so clueless. It isn't and never will be like that at all.

At least almost ⅔ of them have already returned there where they belong, after realizing that their petty little #protest had no effect on #Elon taking out the trash and cleaning it up over there.

About half of that other ⅓ that have remained though? Well, like I said, they're mostly great people and I've made a lot of new friends!

mastodon is such a small part of the entire tree of the Fediverse - and these #inconsiderate #spammers should take into account that they're neither more important or special than anyone else here.
  4. @joshuatopolsky Yeah...

But #Twatter's doin' better now than it has for ages.

I personally wish him well. It's a much better place now than it ever was since he's taken out the trash and is turning the place around over there.

Just the sheer amount of #Shadowbanning that was going on (like over at YouTube) is unforgivable.

It's kinda like when Castro dumped all his prison trash on Miami, we got a lot of those miscreants coming over here - expecting to have their little censorial world replicated here - only to find out that the #Fediverse is actually designed to be censorship resistant in the same way that Elon's trying to remake Twatter... Except it's built into this network from the ground up lolz...

I see morons over here talking about "de-federating" other instances when there's a few people that they don't like, which is humorous, because they're only de-federating themselves into a corner until their instance is left in the vacuum of space while their users migrate to other (non-mastodon) servers and everywhere else people are still communicating with each other.

Now that... Is funny. It just doesn't work that way here #twitugees lolz. Many if those morons have already gone back to Twatter, and realized there just going to have to learn to get skinny with other humans or turn off their phones and computers - either way, they certainly won't be missed.

Here's a good list to select from when those native, once subjugated people figure out how #federation works and they outgrow the meager feature set of mastodon.
