Twidere and its successor Twidere X both seemed to be dead (unmaintained) after Elon closed down Twitter’s API, despite both claims to also work as Mastodon clients.

Habe stets #TweetDeck und danach #Twidere genutzt und bin seit > 1 Jahre nicht mehr auf Twitter gewesen!

Si necesitan estar pendientes de Twitter y no quieren usar la aplicación oficial, #Squawker está chévere. Sirve solo para lectura y no es necesario registrar ninguna cuenta.

Obviamente la funcionalidad es parcial y solo de lectura, pero está interesante, sobretodo cuando algo como #Twidere ya no sirve.

Welche Android - App nimmt man denn für #firefish? Gibt es eine, die mehrere Accounts in einer TL zusammenfasst? Das ist der Hauptgrund, warum ich #Mastodon mit #Twidere nutze, auch wenn es sonst ein paar Nachteile hat.

@wild1145 well, I remember when #Twitter solely acquired #TweetDeck just to kill it's superior #mobile #app and then when they neutered their #API so much that it was basically impossible to make good clients like #Twidere / #TwidereX work...

That was way before #SpaceKaren went full #AssholeMode on everyone!

I'm testing a new mobile client for #mastodon I'm trying #Tusky to replace #Twidere . Make no sens to continue using it as I will probably completely drop my Twitter account at some point.
But It could be cool to bring all mastodon features to Twidere and drop the dead Twitter code in it :-D

@dmoser @fuchsiii @jmwolf @MonaApp @Tusky @ivory considering how "young" :activitypub: and the :fediverse: are in technical point of view and how recent #MassMarketAdoption was due to :birdsite: aka :twitter: exiles, the ecosystem kinda has to grow.

With the #TwitterAPI being canceled we can expect big #SocialMedia tools like #HootSuite and #Tweetdeck-Clones like #Twidere / #TwidereX to appear soon...

Ok. After playing with them all afternoon, here is a rundown if my favorite #Android #MastodonApps by aethetics alone. In no particular order:

#Fedilab - @Fedilab The interface is round with soft corners. Originally, they didn't have an accent color theme option, but they do now.

#Megalodon - @megalodon Closest to the native app. This is my "simplicity" go-to

#Twidere - (I couldn't find them) I love the transparent background option. I'll attach a screenshot of it to this.

#Elk - @elk Probably my favorite compact view. My only complaint is the timeline doesn't auto refresh and I don't like having to click a "press to load X more results" button.

Honorable mebtion:

#TrunkSocial - @trunksapp Aesthetically, this is second to Fedilab for me, but there is a minor software change I need done before I will use it.

That's why #Twitter castrates the #TwitterAPI.

First they acquired #TweetDeck so that they could legally kill their superior #mobile #app [cuz NOONE used their shitty mobile app] and then successively castrated the #API to the point that good clients like #Twidere / #TwidereX can't function.

Yup. I was still reading my Twitter timeline on my phone's #Twidere client, but now none of my Twitter accounts work any more. I hardly ever use the WebUI, so this likely marks the spot where I'm abandoning Twitter.

Twidere still works fine as a Mastodon client, and over the last couple of months I've followed enough Fedizens that I feel sufficiently well-connected in the Fediverse alone, without Twitter.

Die haben auch nur #TweetDeck gekauft um deren [bis heute bessere] #Mobil - #App enstampfen zu können und die #API so zu beschneiden dass Mitbewerber die die #UI / #UX nachliefern [z.B. @mariotaku's #Twidere / #TwidereX ] quasi unbenutzbar gedrosselt werden...

In der #Twidere App, mit der sich beide Welten parallel bedienen ließen, funktioniert das Konto des blauen Piepmatzes nicht mehr. Neuanmeldungen scheitern wegen falschem Secret Key oder falscher URL (oder so ähnlich).

Ist da was bekannt, dass man dort angefangen hat Dritt-Anbieter-Apps auszusperren?

@dirkhh @glynmoody @Fedilab @ivory I don't remember where but I seem to recall having seen such a feature. Already over a year ago. Something like "don't show copies of earlier posts" or something. I use #Fedilab but mostly #Twidere. But might even have been in #Mastodon's settings itself.

Since it was bought by a fool and fired most of its technical staff, the official #birdsite app is getting slower and crashes every day, so I'm trying alternatives. I'm toothing & twitting this at once from #Twidere, a multi-account client, dual both for #Twitter and #Mastodon.

I was using Fedilab, then Twidere, then Tusky, and now I'll try Tooot. I still haven't found what I'm looking for in a single app, I like the ability to see other timelines without login on Fedilab, but I hate the interface. Tusky looks better but lacks that feature, Twidere works but is incapable of changing to dark theme on its own. Nothing to say about Tooot just yet other than I kinda like the way things are organized. Will try it for a while.

Which is your favourite #Mastodon iOS app? I’ve tried the native #MastodonApp, #Metatext, #Mastoot, #Tooot, #TwidereX & the #Mammoth beta.
I think my favourites are the native app and Metatext so far, although I understand that development on the latter has stopped.
What what be a killer for me is an app that shows both toots and tweets, like #Twidere on Android.
I know #Tweetbot is developing #Ivory but I wonder if #Hootsuite or #IconFactory, the makers of #Twitterrific have plans?
