It's amazing to me how all these years later #AndStatus really still is the best #Android app for the #fediverse.
Sometimes simple is just better. They had to remove support for #twitter a while back for obvious reasons. I would appreciate it if they would add support for a couple other #SNS like #Bluesky or #nostr. But I'm a happy camper without it even if they never reach the cross platform function of #OpenVibe or #SonaSNS for iPhone. The snappiness and off-line first nature of it is just 😘

@xz25 If I do a native quote post from friendica's web interface it looks similar to this on mastodon. I most often use #AndStatus app on android which allows me to use multiple accounts with one app in one feed. I think in this case I saw post of @hellomiakoda on a different account but I thought it would be better to re-toot it to my libranet.de followers than whichever account I saw it on (probably one of the ones associated with my employer) so I selected SHARE to the post on AndStatus and chose #AndStatus as the one I wanted to share via and picked a different account so it showed as a new post from one account via AndStatus. I could have copied the URL from the OP opened the web client copy/pasted the URL into search hope my instance finds the same and then click Re-Share on the post that showed up, but I'm lazy. -

@rl_dane @twizzay @adamsdesk @[email protected] @pixx @amin @dm @[email protected] @krafter @orbitalmartian @sotolf @thedoctor @mirabilos #AndStatus is one of the oldest. Still has built in support for pump.io (i.e. identi.ca), one of the only ones that still supports GNU Social natively and still has regular updates. Living in a rural area it's great to be able to download my feed and read it at my leisure even when there is no internet.

@GeekFTW @kessleragain I'm not sure which all federation issues you are describing, but there must still be some, as I'm not seeing any newer posts than 5 days ago on my instance, even though I commented on the PPV live thread on Saturday via #AndStatus. -

It's funny seeing people complain about being unable to repeat or add favorites in #AndStatus.

@z428 Frankly I personally read social networks rarely, and the #AndStatus app helps me keep a track of what's unread and look at that stuff and react at any place, even when there is no good connection.
But what I value even more is a feeling that I really "own my data" :-)
- I keep my conversations in the app for more than ten years already. I don't know why :-)

In order to investigate such cases #AndStatus logs are needed: they will allow to tell, why the app still thinks that the Note (Activity) was not sent.
But probably a network problem occured during sending, and the app didn't get confirmation from a server about successful Note creation on a server.
I thought that this should be a Server's responsibility to deduplicate/resolve such cases, and e.g. seeing that AndStatus client sends the same Note... -

I visited the "Getting Started with the Twitter API" page https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api/getting-started/about-twitter-api and as I understand it there is NO free access to reading tweets anymore.
This explains why there are no new tweets visible in #AndStatus anymore, see the discussion https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/579 -

From this thread on #Friendica it looks very clear that I was responding to @phil's re-toot of @Haste's postbut you aren't mentioned in that OP, nor anywhere else in this thread as it now shows on my instance, so I have no idea what I or #AndStatus was doing that. I know I get some weirdness with #Diaspora contacts on #AndStatus with all replies showing as if they came from the OP, but never with Mastodon or other #AP contacts...
Moreover my "why is that" comment Doesn't seem necessary to the OP either. Sometimes #fediIsAMystery and that's part of why I love it

As you may see in the discussion that I linked to some years ago AndStatus had different implementation for line break option...

#AndStatus just did the one thing I hate the most, skip more than 20 hrs of toots. I see no option to reload them from cache.
BUT, I'll still use the app til Friday, because it handles toots that are currently on the timeline perfectly. Home timeline never moves nor scrolls AT ALL when you interact with toots. It remembers where you actually were before.
Though it's already a huge stretch opting to still use it because it has A LOT of issues, I'm hoping that the toots skip was a hiccup.

I am currently going through toots from 2 days ago using #AndStatus.
I pinned the app so it won't be put to sleep and tweaked the battery-saving options so it will never be terminated 2 days ago. Now, I am only a few dozen toots in and it kind of looks like it has my entire home timeline saved up (I hope I don't jinx it).
Will report if this trial thing goes well.
Please excuse me for being kind of a creepy lurker interacting with your old toots. 😅😆
