Несмотря на то, что видеокассеты уже давно вышли из повседневной жизни, услуги по их оцифровке продолжают пользоваться спросом. Кассеты с любительскими записями есть почти в каждой семье, и рано или поздно их нужно перевести в цифру, ведь срок жизни магнитной ленты ограничен. Зимой 2025 года в мои руки попало 35 кассет формата VHS и VHS-C из семейного архива, и встала задача по их оцифровке. С учетом того, что на каждой кассете было записано приблизительно по 60 минут видео, а средний ценник услуг по захвату сейчас составляет 400 рублей в час, общая стоимость конвертации составила бы около 14 тысяч рублей. Эта сумма показалась мне слишком большой, и было решено сделать все самостоятельно. В данной статье я хочу рассказать об относительно новом методе оцифровки видеокассет, на котором я остановился, и сравнить его с классическими подходами.

I decoded the face animations from Dune, mostly based on the fantastic description by Henrik Persson on his blog on zwomp.com.
They're a list of animations, each a list of frames, each a list of image groups, each a list of images. An impressive 4 levels. In the CD version, the VOC-files contain lip-sync ids that reference this data, but how exactly they match up is TBD.
I can only upload one video per toot, but I'll make a web viewer for these soon.

How decoders are addressed confuses many. Multifunction decoders have 2 modes: Primary & Extended. Accessory decoders have 9 or 11 bit addresses. Not confusing at all.😀

USB drive running has got much easier and almost speed is not visible / accepted for what you gain (literally ISO + Software on USB = new OS)
Just run off USB / 'live' version and choose to install or not from there! I don't even recommend installing fully... use USB until settled and switch which hard disk on boot from if needed to keep all your stuff as is!
Any Linux ISO or even older Windows ISO (many on 1 USB is possible with boot menu!)
No coding.
I can upload / link to more if you need help with step at the beginning - still have doubts just say...
