I apologize for the crisis-mode posts during the past week or so. I'll return to regular mode with this last post about the largest scale natural disaster in Sri Lanka, in recent memory. 2004 tsunami had way more casualties but more areas/people/livelihood were affected this time.
With the death toll at 635 and little hope for the rescue of at least 192 still missing, I'm floored by the resilience and generosity of our people. Affected are sheltered and fed and the immediate relief donations are being delivered. I'm genuinely surprised by how fast and hard work the first responders, essential service workers, and volunteers are driving the immediate relief. Just over a week later, most of the country is open for tourism.

By last (2nd, December) evening, the death toll was 465, with at least 366 still missing. Over 1.5 million people are affected, with over 230,000 sheltered at safety centers. Rescue workers, essential service workers, and volunteers are working tirelessly.
Next comes the rebuilding. Every little help matters.

Over 150 deaths, over 200 missing, and over 830,000 people affected, Sri Lanka is still not out of the weather and safety emergency. With landslides and floods, these numbers will continue to rise, especially as rescue operations reach some unreachable areas. Over 122,000 are in 919 safety locations.
Following the terror attacks in 2019, pandemic in 2020, economic crisis in 2022, the resilient people of this beautiful country have always fought for survival every step of the way. We ousted a corrupt, incompetent regime, democratically elected against corruption and against weaponized racism. We were on a steady path to recovery, exceeding IMF expectations. This is a gut punch. But, this too, we will survive! 🇱🇰
Our generous people in unaffected areas are organizing relief donations, and countries like India, USA, Japan, Maldives are extending helping hands. But we will need all the help. 🙏🏾

Family photo. My two ID75 ortholinear/matrix-style custom mechanical keyboards.
The top one (white, black, and orange colors) is the older, with an Atmel chip, XDA profile PBT keycaps, and QMK/VIA configuration. Usually kept at work.
The bottom one (white characters on black) is the newer, with a RPi2 chip, MOA profile PBT keycaps, and QMK/Vial configuration. Daily carrying in my backpack.
This is the trade off of using a custom layout (based on vanilla Colemak) as a unibody split keyboard. However, considering how much direct and indirect posture correction they allowed me, and that I can work all day everyday without any discomfort, I easily consider them a worthy investment.

Went to Sigiriya - Dambulla area with the family for a long weekend. So, here are some obligatory pictures of archeological sites.
First up, #Sigiriya, the Lion Rock, a prehistoric site occupied throughout the ages, most famously as an elaborate palace complex of King Kashyapa (477-495 CE).
Photos are of the summit (~108m) with the remnants of the palace complex, view of the royal gardens from the summit, and the Lion Gate around the halfway point.

My #gameengine runs events in indeterminate order, which has a lot of benefits, but can be very hard to debug, so I built a tool that logs to a file with a buffer that reorders the log lines back into game time order on the fly. Now, when there's a network desync I can look at the log files and spot exactly which event caused it. #WorldFabric
