I apologize for the crisis-mode posts during the past week or so. I'll return to regular mode with this last post about the largest scale natural disaster in Sri Lanka, in recent memory. 2004 tsunami had way more casualties but more areas/people/livelihood were affected this time.
With the death toll at 635 and little hope for the rescue of at least 192 still missing, I'm floored by the resilience and generosity of our people. Affected are sheltered and fed and the immediate relief donations are being delivered. I'm genuinely surprised by how fast and hard work the first responders, essential service workers, and volunteers are driving the immediate relief. Just over a week later, most of the country is open for tourism.

Huishoudens hebben in maart meer goederen en diensten gekocht dan in dezelfde maand vorig jaar. Opvallend is dat in januari en februari van dit jaar juist minder werd gekocht in vergelijking met dezelfde maanden in 2025. Het beeld voor april is somberder.

[Dev News] - Shape Drawing Rework
I’ve completed the shape drawing system overhaul. All functions now work with transparency and are faster. I enhanced other parts, like the Clipper2 wrapper for #ShapeEngine, which is now more sophisticated and handles all polygon drawing.

In #astrophysics it is often talked about how big objects deflect smaller ones. In may head this looks way too cartoonisch. Like when two objects in a #gameengine collide, bug out and get just violent tossed around 😂 #gamephysics Asteriods getting to close to the sun just do a #tf2 funny ragdoll when they get yeeted back out into the void.

Wish I could come up with a better name for my #homeGrown #gameEngine. It's inspired by a project called the #OLC (#OneLoneCoder) #PixelGameEngine, but written in #Rust instead of #C++ and using #SDL instead of #OpenGL. There's no shared code, just a shared philosophy. Obviously I can't use that name, so I've given it a temporary name of Simple Game Engine, but I'm sure I can come up with something better than that.

I'm slowly getting back into my old game engine project. Dependencies are upgraded and now one project is running.
Oh boy, I certainly did some programming crime right there. Many good memories too. Should I start a YouTube series of me upgrading this old engine? Streaming maybe?
