I'm slowly getting back into my old game engine project. Dependencies are upgraded and now one project is running.
Oh boy, I certainly did some programming crime right there. Many good memories too. Should I start a YouTube series of me upgrading this old engine? Streaming maybe?

Congrats to GoMud on another year of development! 🎂
GoMud is a lightweight, open-source engine for creating text-based multiplayer worlds, built using the Go programming language.
In this interview, creator Volte6 talks about why he started the project, how it differs from traditional multi-user dungeon (MUD) engines, and what happens when a simple playtest goes hilariously sideways. 😂

🎮 Ah, the dream of creating games without coding—because who needs to understand what they're doing when they can just haphazardly drag and drop pretty shapes? 😏 Play Maker: the Fisher-Price of game engines, boasting it's 50x easier than Unity for those allergic to actual skill. 🙄

In practice, the most effective game engines are often moddable games. Unlike traditional engines, they already implement core systems—AI, physics, maps, behaviors—so developers only need to define content instead of implementing it from scratch. A clear example is GZDoom, whose modding framework enables the creation of fully standalone games.

From our experience Godot is a nice boi to use, Gdevelop is nice for juniors, annoying for senior dev and in general if you are specific about your game and unity is a shady friend.
What is your experience with games engines? Have you tried GBstudio? UnrealEngine maybe? WE WANNA KNOW
