  6. Tip #772

Preview web pages before opening them in Vivaldi on iOS.

In Vivaldi on iOS, you don’t need to play a guessing game of what will actually open when you go to the link. Simply preview the link to get a sneak peek of the content before committing to opening it.

    To preview a link:

    1. On the web page you’re on, find a link that you want to check out.
    2. Long-press on it to see a preview of the page.

In case you don’t see previews or, conversely, want to hide them:

    1. Go to Settings > Content settings.
    2. Toggle on/off “Show link previews”.

  7. CNN: Inside the old church where one trillion webpages are being saved. “The White House in January ordered vast amounts of government webpages to be taken down. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence is blurring the line between what’s real and what’s artificially generated — in some ways replacing the need to visit websites entirely. And more of the internet is now hidden behind paywalls or […]

  8. Tip #763

Copy web page titles from the Tab Bar.

Whether for sharing, document naming, issue reporting or something else. Sometimes it’s good to get the full web page title, especially if it’s not displayed on the page itself.

To copy the web page title in Vivaldi:

    1. Double-click on the tab or right-click on the tab and select “Rename” from the menu.
    2. While the title is selected, press CTRL / ⌘ + C on your keyboard.

  9. Tip #762

Open links from Vivaldi on Android’s History Panel in a new tab.

When looking up pages you’ve visited in the past in Vivaldi on Android’s History Panel, tapping on an entry will open the page in the active tab. This is fine when you have the Start Page open in the active tab, but you may be taken away from an important page as well. To avoid the latter, you should open the link in a new tab instead.

To open a link from History in a new tab:

    1. Open the History Panel.
    2. Long-press on the entry you want to open.
    3. Tap on the 3-dot menu icon in the top right corner.
    4. Select “Open in new tab” or “Open in private tab” from the menu.

  10. Tip #759

Read articles without distractions by enabling Reader View in Vivaldi on iOS.

Reader View in Vivaldi on iOS removes all distracting elements from the web page, allowing you to focus on reading the article in peace.

    To switch to Reader View:

    1. Open a web page with suitable content.
    2. Tap the “Reader View” button on the Address Bar.

To exit Reader View, tap the same button.

  11. Tip #757

Share a web page from your Android tablet with a long-press on the page.

The web is full of fascinating content worth sharing. In Vivaldi on Android, there are a couple of ways you can do it. You can select “Share” from the main menu, focus on the Address Bar and select “Share” from the drop-down menu, or you can add a shortcut to the Address Bar for easy sharing. On tablets, there’s an additional option.

To share the page open in the active tab from an Android tablet:

    1. Long-press on an empty area on the page.
    2. Select “Share”.
    3. Copy the link or select an app to share it with.

If you long-press on an image or a link on the page, you can share those too.

  15. Tip #753

Swipe on the trackpad to move back and forth in history.

Whether you have a trackpad on your laptop or a standalone one, using a swipe gesture on it makes moving between web pages a breeze.

    • To move back in history, with two fingers, swipe from left to right.
    • To move forward in history, with two fingers, swipe from right to left.

PS. It also works for swipe gestures on touch screens! 😉

  16. Tip #750

Ensure that articles on your Reading List have the correct read status.

You can reduce the number of open tabs by adding pages you want to check later to the Reading List. When you open a page from the Reading List, it gets marked as read automatically. In case you changed your mind about reading the article or didn’t get a chance to finish, you can mark the page as unread again.

To mark a page as unread:

    1. Open the Reading List panel or Reading List pop-up.
    2. Find the page you want to mark as unread.
    3. Click on the eye icon next to the page title.

Similarly, by clicking the checkmark icon next to an unread page, you can mark it as read.

  17. Frank M Taylor: America by Design is Deplorable for All. “On August 21 President Donald Trump issued an executive order for a national initiative to improve digital experiences for Americans called ‘America by Design’. After establishing a National Design Studio, one of the first products was AmericaByDesign.gov —which is deplorable for all. And I’m going to explain why.”

  20. Tip #746

Choose an animation for loading tabs.

You can get a hint that the web page in the active tab is loading from the Address Field, which temporarily turns into a progress bar. In addition, you can see when a tab is loading on the Tab Bar. This is especially useful for your tabs in the background, which might be loading, for example, when you’ve set up Periodic Reload. There are a few animation options available, so you can select the one you like most.

    To select an animation:

    1. Go to Settings > Tabs > Tab Display > Page Load Progress.
    2. Choose between:
      • Progress Bar
      • Favicon Progress
      • Favicon Spinner (shown in the image below)
      • None

  21. Localghost: This website is for humans . “I write the content on this website for people, not robots. I’m sharing my opinions and experiences so that you might identify with them and learn from them. I’m writing about things I care about because I like sharing and I like teaching.
