A #poem in three parts—
i.
A Georgian house stands in Wanstead
along Kingfisher Avenue,
built of brick of cherry red:
something came into my view —Upon its wall, a stone plaque I see:
It remembers a stolen cherry pie,
which cost a fine of half a guinea
on a warm day in July,long ago, one summer’s day,
in the 18th century,
a pastry plucked from baker’s tray —
and consumed, famously.🧵👇🏼
