In election news, the Labour Party in Newham is filling every inch of its newsletter attacking the Green Party. I mean, 100% dedicated to attacking Green.

Stories from other cities, boroughs, and twisted wordings and stats.

They don’t bother talking about what they have done over the years in office or what their upcoming plans are for the borough.

No hope, no plans, just hate, and that's how they aim to win this local election.

Welp, no worries about the carbon fiber electrically interfering with this 2m/70cm j pole since the POTA33 mast can’t handle the weight of it with only one set of guy wires 😅. But was heard a city away on my weekly net as with my usual mag mount whip.

First time guying a portable mast. Wind is blowing it all over the place. Learned a lot by getting hands on tho.

I’m at one year into #hamradio and today was the most meaningful day by far. I got to help dozens of elementary school students make “contacts” on the local RARS repeater.

Note that these girls, most of a minority racial or ethnic group, are having a lot of fun using communication technology. Throughout the day, the girls were consistently excited, curious, on task, overcoming anxiety to get on the air and just generally AMAZING!

Found this nifty piece of kit at the local Value Village, tucked among piles of old Amazon Echos. There were two but my budget currently only allows for small purchases so I opted for this one. The model is a BF-R3, I know next to nothing about Ham stuff but I'd love to learn.

Yes, I WAS trying some new power cabling I had just made and NO I didn't have it fused, but the BS170s don't seem to have fried, at least on visual inspection. It gave me a yellow/green screen of death and then would not power back on.

Any help greatly appreciated!

This On the Air cover story for #NewHams is maddening. Maybe the cover shoot folly is self-evident. Here's an excerpt from the article that is worse than useless because it only raises fears without guidance:

We have a bad fly-tipping problem in #Newham. Just tried the Bulky Waste service. I have to select each item separately from a massive dropdown. Select 'Wicker basket' (!) and it says 'Make sure it is clean'. What? No it's broken and dirty, hence me trying to get rid of it. Other stuff I can't find in the list at all.
