  1. it all counts

    a scientist
    uses math
    (which counts
    things) to help
    visualize
    invisible
    verifiable things
    even things
    that cannot be
    yet verified
    by touch (counting
    for real) instead
    metaphysically
    represented in
    quantities of 123
    where infinity
    which might
    as well be
    nothingness
    as the Answer indicates
    Error or
    rather unknown
    or trickier
    (motion)

  3. Mandé
    A #poetry thread

    i.

An evening meal with an old friend
who told us he’d cross a stony bridge,
its span a trial, then he’d descend
to wade into black waters’ edge.

Upon the table stripped and bare,
a bowl of dried roses, grey as stone.
The meal that we'd been served was spare:
a loaf, thinned wine, a candle blown.

  4. Crown
    A #poetry thread

    i.

My Lady stood within an arch
and wore her weighty crown of stone.
She gave her hand and I embarked
on a great quest I should have known.

As we walked, she steadfastly sighed
about the burden that she bore.
She dropped her veil and then she cried
that her long neck was tense and sore.

  5. Turnkey
    A #poetry thread

    i.

I walked into a prison cell
and closed the wrought iron gate behind.
At first the place felt harmless — well,
my gentle jailer seemed so kind.

Although I held a golden key
to turn the gate’s old rusty lock,
    for years I knelt obediently
each time my jailer came and knocked.

  6. Vigil

    A candle snuffed,
    its wick is curled.
    A puff of smoke
    in air unfurled.

    There at the tip,
    the faintest spark
    in spirit red
    to spite the dark.
