What an absolute beauty! A fine interwar Art Deco building on the main street of Oberon, a NSW country town of the uplands.
Few visitors ever make it to Oberon; almost none at all since the highway at Victoria Pass collapsed, the town's only access from Sydney. The closure of the mountain pass is economic devastation for the area. The town's major employer is the forestry industry and the timber processing plant that produces building materials. But the extra costs in a fuel crisis of trucking the products out the long way round to market and export have nearly ruined the industry.
I guess the state government will have to bale it out, somehow.
Once there was a branch railway, from the main western line, to the town and into the factory. Closure of railways always comes back to bite an economy in the bum!

I visited a few days ago the Perret Tower, a very iconic building in reinforced concrete built in 1925 in #Grenoble. It was closed for many years and it recently underwent a massive restoration and opened again for the public less than two weeks ago.
