  1. Hmm, I'm having flashbacks to a few of my first jobs, lol.

(why a brand new CD is giving SCSI 03/11 errors, dunno, lol)

  2. ZuluSCSI Blaster Rev. 2025e vs. Rev 2026c

Apart from the layout differences, the main changes seem to be:

    * the DAC is now integrated, no longer an external module
    * the Raspberry Pi Radio Module 2 has a footprint on the PCB, no longer on an external module
    * has provisioning for USB pins
    * LEDs for voltage checks

(The white wires on the 2025e are my custom LED leads for easier integration. The bodge wire on the 2026c is from the factory.)

  3. I released a binary of my "fork" of the X68000 DaynaPort driver, as version "v1.3-CQ". It has quite a few changes compared to the v1.1 it's based on - most importantly, it works on my X68000 Expert HD now instead of locking up the SCSI bus right after startup. It also supports multipacket mode, and it can query the signal level and the connected SSID.

(This isn't a GitHub endorsement. At least for my changes, no LLM output has been used.)

  4. @manawyrm A glimpse into my home lab around 2001 or 2002—nobody knows for sure.
An HP NetServer LH Pro with a Pentium Pro 200 running Windows NT 4.0 Server and six 2 GB SCSI drives. Next to it, my self-built Pentium 133 with two HDDs, dual Plextor UltraWide SCSI CD-ROM drives, and an Iomega ZIP drive. Topped with an HP PhotoSmart P1000 and a 15" Targa CRT. I knew every jumper, cable, and SCSI terminator by heart. #RetroComputing #WindowsNT #SCSI

  5. Open-Source A4091/A4092 Software Package: Version 42.38/42.39

For ReA4091, the open-source clone of Commodore’s Fast-SCSI2 controller A4091, as well as its modern successor A4092, an open-source software package is available that includes AmigaOS drivers, a ROM image, a test program, and software for debugging the driver. The extensive changes in versions 42.38 and 42.39 can be found in the respective changelogs.

  6. Feelin’ SCSI? 💖 Then this new video is just for you!

Learn the basics of the SCSI interface, the do’s and don’ts, and some weird tricks to keep your SCSI bus and devices happy.

Repost this to avoid SCSI voodoo!🤞

  7. PCB designers / engineers: Hey, hardware people - parallel buses are a pain.
Serial is easier to handle. Can you do that?

    IEEE-1284 and RS-232: Okay, here's USB!

IDE/ATA: We can do that! SATA.

    SCSI: Cool. Here's SAS.

PCI: ... how about a really fast serial connection, but we have a bunch of them side-by-side?

  8. 20 years ago, I had a load of (mostly second-hand) SCSI kit on my home systems. One the things that put me off it was the huge variety of cables, terminators and converters needed to make the damn thing work with a heterogeneous (one might say, random) collection of devices.

Today, I have a few SAS devices, including an LTO tape drive, and... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_A

:blobcatfacepalm: *sigh* Just get a grip, will you?

  9. My A4091 PRs are here, alongside other bugfixes and minor new features contributed to #Copperline:

    I feel like I've become a 10x engineer: 1x human, 9x AI 🤖

Plus, I'm also learning lots and lots of low-level details on SCSI, the Zorro bus and Autoconfig :amiga:

  10. Claude also figured how to extend the custom #Copperline GUI to configure the new controller.

All I had to do was sharing screenshots and decide whether we'd support A2091 + A4091 in parallel or exclusively.

  11. Anyone else out there own (or have even heard of) a Transoft SCSI-Net hub? (Not shown: several three metre long SCSI cables.)

  12. SCSI caught in particularly plump-looking pose by @leb

(SCSI’s not *actually* as fat as he looks in this photo, promise. His vet keeps tabs on him… and us)

  13. The Syquest Part 1. 27 years ago, I shut down this 1994 Syquest and its 88MB cartridge for the last time. It stayed in a box all this time, until I recently decided to plug it into the Power G4 I acquired a few months ago.
For that, I bought an Adaptec SCSI 2930 card and the appropriate cable... But when I plug the Syquest into the Mac and boot, I get a gray screen with the mouse cursor... nothing happens until I shut down the Syquest, and then the Mac boots up normally. It seems I need a SCSI terminator... to be continued...

  14. Yes!
I just tested a small batch of AT27C256R-70 OTP ROMs in the two #MiSCUSI variants (CMOS and NMOS #SCSI controller) and they work flawlessly on both.
So I now recommend using these.

Still waiting for other 28C256 to check.

  15. #adaptec were really ahead of their time when they put RGB on their #SCSI controllers in 1998!

Well, "R", but it was 1998.

It fits PERFECTLY with my threadripper workstation!

  16. @peterbreuer.bsky.social Früher habe ich #SCSI-Adapter selbergelötet und gecrimped. Und Adapter für die serielle Schnittstelle, Nullmodems usw.

  17. Great, the routing for the 53C80 / '133-free #MiSCUSI (#Apple2 #SCSI yada yada) has been completed.

There are some things I want to tweak now, then the fill zones to prepare and tidy up, but I expect the prototype to be ready for a production test within the week.

But this is enough retroing for today: loads of other work to do before the end of the day.

  18. Open source A4091/A4092 software package: Version 42.37

For ReA4091, the open source replica of Commodore's Fast SCSI2 controller A4091, as well as for its modern successor A4092, an open source software package is also available, which includes AmigaOS drivers, a ROM image, a test program and software for debugging the driver.

  19. Finally, the #MiSCUSI is released!
    codeberg.org/hkzlab/MiSCUSI_Ap

For the newcomers, it's a rebuild of the Apple II #SCSI card, made with SMD components.

Tested it on my #Delta Apple //e clone with a #BlueSCSI

Thanks to #PCBWay for sponsoring this, and thanks to @DosFox for testing the PLD dumps on his card!

As usual, if you like my projects and have some credits to spare, you can throw me a few via Ko-Fi. It's not strictly necessary, but all go towards the next projects (instead of using what's left after I have fed and medicated the cat colony I inherited...).
