  1. #TauntingBoard has finally been released!
    It's an #Apple2 #MockingBoard clone(ish) with a few changes I'd dare call improvements.

It's free for everyone: print it, build it, enjoy it.
    codeberg.org/hkzlab/TauntingBo

Thanks for #PCBWay for sponsoring not one, but two prototype runs for this board!

Boost if you wish (appreciated!) and/or donate a few credits via Ko-Fi if you want and have some to spare (Not essential, but they'll be used to help pay for components for future projects: believe me, they're helpful, vet expenses are eating away most of disposable income lately).

  2. Rev. 2 of the tauntingboard ( #Apple2 mockingboard clone with a few improvements for my use cases) has been submitted to #PCBWay for sponsorship evaluation.

    We'll see tomorrow.

If lucky enough, I expect to be able to release this to you all by the end of the month.

In other news, I'm terribly behind schedule today.

  3. Finally, the #MiSCUSI is released!
    codeberg.org/hkzlab/MiSCUSI_Ap

For the newcomers, it's a rebuild of the Apple II #SCSI card, made with SMD components.

Tested it on my #Delta Apple //e clone with a #BlueSCSI

Thanks to #PCBWay for sponsoring this, and thanks to @DosFox for testing the PLD dumps on his card!

As usual, if you like my projects and have some credits to spare, you can throw me a few via Ko-Fi. It's not strictly necessary, but all go towards the next projects (instead of using what's left after I have fed and medicated the cat colony I inherited...).

  8. First of three new projects released: The #GalDiskII, sponsored by #PCBWay (thanks!)

An #Apple2 Disk II controller clone using a PLD in place of the P6A PROM.

It does away with the transistors used to turn on/off some ICs and introduces a few quality-of-life improvements I wanted (mainly the ability to configure it for the FloppyEmu dual-drive emulation mode).

It was built to help me test my P6A to 22V10 conversion, and is now the controller of choice for my //e clone.

    Enjoy, it's free for everyone!
If you want to support me, a few credits on ko-fi.com/hkzlab are always appreciated!

    codeberg.org/hkzlab/GalDiskII

  9. The trio of boards sponsored by #PCBWay arrived! It is now time to start soldering.

I'll begin with the GalDisk II, a Disk II controller using a GAL22V10 in place of the P6A PROM.

  10. #PCBWay approved the sponsorship for all 3 boards. Thanks!

Next step is adding the final components to the mouser order and place it.

Then it's waiting, building and swearing.

    In that order.

  11. Here is what I'll do now regarding the current branch of boards.
I have the GalDisk][, the Tauntingboard and the MiSCUSI to propose #PCBWay for sponsorship. Will send them a mail shortly.

It's not guaranteed that they'll accept all, they might propose to do only some (or one) of them this run, and do the rest next month.

If that happens, I'll run a quick poll here to ask you which board(s) you're most interested in seeing tested first.

I'll wait for the sponsorship to place the mouser order so I don't splurge on components I won't need immediately.

  12. Spent the afternoon planting onions. Came back and finished adding components to the Mouser cart for a second project.

I now miss the components for the MiSCUSI and some extras I need for other things.

Attached: renders of the 3 boards I want to seek #PCBWay sponsorship for. I'll probably submit them tomorrow.

    - MiSCUSI: an Apple II SCSI card repacking with SMD components
    - Tauntingboard: mockingboard-compatible audio card with a few improvements
    - GalDisk II: A Disk II compatible controller to be used as a testbed for my PLD reimplementation of P6

Now need to go feed the cats and then I'll go lay down and read a bit.

  13. Project TODOs for next week:

Finalize both the tauntingboard and the GalDisk II. I will seek out #PCBWay sponsorship for these, as they're likely to end up as released projects

Route one or both of these:
    - The Uthernet II clone
    - A variant A2DVI board
I will not seekout a sponsorship on these, as they're mostly derivative work and the chance of releasing them is slim (in one case because the original product is still sold, in the second, because it's of dubious utility).

  14. Was working on a new project and had to practice the USB port straight to the #PCB edge.cuts. Very fun project, Im waiting to get the print from

  17. As expected (given it was just a reorganization of Rev. 0), the new #Famiclone Dendy CPU clock multiplier works.

For people who just tuned in, this is a 1.25x clock multiplier that allows you to use some (most?) Dendy CPUs used in famiclones in your NTSC NES/Famicom/whatever.

You can solder this under your motherboard or between two sockets.

Dendy CPUs are much much cheaper than the proper NTSC variants.

You can find details and gerbers in the repository!

    github.com/hkzlab/famiclone_de

Again, this project was sponsored by #PCBWay, who produced the PCBs for me! So thanks to them!!!

  18. The #FlaccidOstrich repository is now public! codeberg.org/hkzlab/Flaccid_Os

The Flaccid Ostrich is a clone of #FloppyEmu, a floppy/smartport emulator for #apple2 and #Macintosh computers.

Thanks to #PCBWay for having sponsored the PCBs for this project!

I recreated the schematics to repair my original unit, and while I was at it, I decided to build a clone using THT technology, just in case someone wants some DIY.

EDIT: Sorry, had to pull this. See: tinkerdifferent.com/threads/fl
It was more damageful to community than expected, which wasn't my intention.

  19. Oh. Forgot to update you all!
The PCB for the Flaccid Ostrich, the C16 SRAM Adapter and the new dendy CPU adapter, all sponsored by #PCBWay arrived today in the early afternoon!

I still have not placed the mouser order (good thing, because I realized I forgot a few items), because I had to spend most of the evening at the vet, again. My oldest cat, the matriarch of the house had another issue and needed an urgent checkup and injections.

Still, here are the three boards!

  20. Oh cool. The Flaccid Ostrich and the C16 SRAM Adapter sponsored by #pcbway are almost here.
I expect a delivery on Monday.

I need to prepare the mouser cart. Will get to it on Sunday.

  21. uh oh. #pcbway stopped to accept sensible payment methods (at least for me; reached out to support, so let's see), and #jlcpcb is failing automated quoting. i guess it's a good moment to do a new round to see what's the current state of low volume #pcb manufacturing in europe. if you folks have any experience or hints to share i would really appreciate it! #diy #electronics.

  22. @root42 #PCBWay sent me this picture at time of construction with the caption "U1 cannot insert totally because of two pin headers , pls confirm".

That's the socket for the TED, though, so I guess it shouldn't affect the RAM.

    #Commodore16

  23. This afternoon I went out to buy cat food and medicine. When I came back home, the in-laws told me that I had the DHL courier deliver something.
I wasn't expecting anything, so this was a surprise!

Turns out that #PCBWay sent me a box of goodies for christmas!
Between other things, it contains a 100% wool scarf (which comes quite handy when I go to fleamarkets these days), a plush toy, stickers and a tea set!
I think it is a tea set and that's how I'll use it. Filling that cup with espresso would probably just give me seizures for caffeine overload.

So, anyway, just washed the cups, will try them tomorrow morning!

  24. #PCBWay delivers.

But I need something to pull the TED out without destroying it. It's not as simple as it looks in all those videos the repair guys keep publishing :-) So far all I've manged to do is to make scratch marks...

  25. Finally labeled every keycap in the Delta Redux #mechanical #keyboard !

I also took the occasion to release the repository for everyone: codeberg.org/hkzlab/DELTA_Redu

As you can see, this was sponsored by #PCBWay, all of it. Without them, I'd be months behind on this project.

For those that do not follow ramblings, the Delta (codeberg.org/hkzlab/NE_Delta_S) is an italian #apple2e clone, whose PCB I have redrawn and schematics reconstructed.

This is a keyboard for it! Thanks to @tubetime , as I based my work off his Datanetics replica.

If you like what I do, consider supporting me on ko-fi, it really helps me when I need to buy components.

  26. Keyboard for the Delta computer (PCBs sponsored by #PCBWay!) arrived, assembled and... It's surprisingly working!

I can finally talk with the Delta (an Apple IIe clone)!

  27. Progress has been slow but now I have the first revision of my modular analog PBX back plane PCB in my hands! ☎️

This board has eight line card slots for either FXS or FXO interfaces and three generic expansion slots, ring generator using an H-bridge plus external step-up transformer, progress tones, DTMF decoder (and pulse dialing of course), four simultaneous calls with balanced audio paths. Now I can finally hook up my modems without messing with VoIP! #pbx #retrocomputing #pcbway

  28. Ok, given that the test for this board has been a (painful) success, I am releasing the #TK2000 #VDP board for everyone to enjoy!

For those that just tuned in, it adds a TMS9918A to your TK2000 home computer.

    Why?
    Because why not!

    codeberg.org/hkzlab/TK2000_VDP

This project was sponsored by #PCBWay , that kindly printed the boards for me, and they turned out great!

That said, components and consumables are not free, so every credit you might wish to send me at ko-fi.com/hkzlab is going to be greatly appreciated! ☕

  29. That thing when you've sent your design to be manufactured and are now having to be patient ... #pcbway #pal2 #mos6502
