Yesterday, I read an interesting paper by Łukasz Remisiewicz in #Scientometrics, introducing the concept of "metric capital": academic indicators that researchers can accumulate and convert into positions, funding, promotions, and recognition.

What I found particularly interesting is the concept of metrics–status decoupling, when strong bibliometric performance does not translate into academic standing.
